Having missed the Champions League, Bayern can only "make amends" in the domestic tournament. That is the reason why coach Pep Guardiola decided to field the strongest squad in the away match at Ingolstadt, including key names such as: Douglas Costa, Lewandowski or Xabi Alonso...
Determined to win all 3 points away from home, Bayern immediately attacked as soon as the opening whistle was blown. In the 15th minute, the "Bavarian Tigers" had a chance to open the scoring when Marvin Matip committed a foul in the penalty area and Lewandowski successfully scored a penalty kick, putting Bayern ahead.
Not long after, the Polish striker continued to "pour cold water" on the home team when he had a very quick shot into the left corner of the goal from a pass from Xabi Alonso, defeating goalkeeper Ramazan Ozcan, raising the score to 2-0 for Pep Guardiola's army.
Before the end of the first half, Ingolstadt managed to equalize thanks to Moritz Hartmann from the 11m mark after Xabi Alonso committed a foul in the penalty area.
Entering the second half, the home team pushed up their formation to find an equalizer, but all of Ingolstadt's situations only stopped at the opportunity level.
At the end of the match, Bayern won 2-1 against Ingolstadt, while Dortmund also suffered a 0-1 defeat against Frankfurt. With this result, the "Bavarian Tigers" officially won the Bundesliga 1 round early. This is the 4th consecutive year that Bayern has reached the top of the highest tournament in Germany./.
