The People's Court of Kien Giang province recently sentenced Huynh Thi Hanh, a resident of U Minh Thuong district, to 12 years in prison for fraud and appropriation of property.
According to the records, taking advantage of her acquaintances in U Minh Thuong district, from 2011 to 2014, Hanh opened 25 rotating savings schemes. She then used fraudulent methods, including using fictitious names and the names of scheme members, falsely claiming that others had won the lottery to obtain the winnings, and selling a portion of the lottery funds to embezzle money. In total, Hanh embezzled nearly 1.1 billion VND from 104 people.
