A fishing boat carrying about 40 schoolchildren capsized in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Maharashtra state, western India.

"The boat, carrying about 40 students, capsized at sea around midday; a total of 32 students have been rescued," local official Prashant Narnaware said.CNA.
The ship encountered problems today in the Arabian Sea off Dahanu, a coastal town in Palghar district of Maharashtra state, located about 110 km from Mumbai.
A police officer said: "The death toll could rise because four children are still missing." Coast Guard"India diverted one of its ships and deployed an aircraft and helicopters in the rescue operation," he said.
Local television reported that students from Babubhai Junior High School went on a field trip to Parnaka Beach. Many of them boarded fishing boats to enjoy the sea.
"Overloading was the cause of the accident; the ship tilted and then capsized in the middle of the sea. However, we will still conduct an investigation to find out more," police said.
