Exposing the tricks of 2 subjects who stole more than 40 motorbikes in many locations

On September 7, Ha Nam Provincial Police announced that they had just prosecuted and issued a temporary detention order for Bui Van Sinh (born in 1994) and Nguyen Van Thanh (born in 1996), both residing in Cu Yen commune, Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province, for the crimes of "Theft of property" and "Illegal possession of drugs".

These two subjects are the perpetrators of 41 motorbike thefts in many provinces and cities: Hanoi, Ha Nam, Hoa Binh, Nam Dinh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, including 6 thefts in Ha Nam province.

Currently, the Provincial Police Investigation Agency has recovered 26 motorbikes as evidence of the thefts caused by these two subjects and identified the victims involved.

Lieutenant Colonel Le Duc Tung, Head of the Criminal Police Department of Ha Nam Provincial Police, said that both Thanh and Sinh had many criminal records.

In which, Bui Van Sinh has 2 previous convictions for extortion, Nguyen Van Thanh has previous convictions for theft and robbery.

"Both subjects are from Luong Son district, Hoa Binh province. Before returning to Ha Nam to rent a room and commit the crime, Thanh and Sinh rented a room in Linh Dam peninsula (Hoang Mai district, Hanoi) to connect with some key subjects to sell stolen property," said Lieutenant Colonel Le Duc Tung.

At the police station, the subjects confessed that around mid-May 2023, they rented a house in Hoang Tay commune, Kim Bang district, Ha Nam.

During the day, they drove to Nam Sach (Hai Duong); Van Giang, Van Lam (Hung Yen); Giao Thuy, Nghia Hung, Nam Truc, Nam Ninh (Nam Dinh), Phu Xuyen (Hanoi) and districts and towns in Ha Nam province to investigate and search for absentee households and commit theft.

When they see a family with a locked gate, they will loosely tie a thin steel wire to the gate or door, and at night they will come back together to check.

If they find the steel wire tied to the gate or door is still intact, proving that the house is empty and no one is there, they will break the lock and get inside to steal property.

On the evening of July 26, the Criminal Police Department of Ha Nam Province Police organized an ambush and caught two subjects in the act of stealing a motorbike from a household in Mang Thuong village (Nam Yen commune, Duy Tien town, Ha Nam).

Searching the backpacks of the two suspects, the police seized many tools used to commit the crime. At the same time, in the two suspects' rented room, the police also seized 45 synthetic drug pills.

The subjects confessed that within just 4 months (up to the time of arrest), these 2 subjects had committed 41 cases of breaking and entering, and stealing motorbikes in the above mentioned areas.

The investigation agency also seized a total of 26 motorbikes of various types at the motel and pawnshops, including 4 SH motorbikes. Thanh and Sinh also confessed that after stealing the motorbikes, they would send messages to the Zalo group to arrange for the customers to come pick up the motorbikes.

Currently, the Investigation Police Agency of Ha Nam Province continues to expand the investigation, verify and clarify the group of subjects specializing in consuming stolen vehicles in Hanoi.
