The Pentagon acknowledges that military aid to Ukraine has exposed a range of problems within the U.S. military-industrial complex, including difficulties in maintaining, restoring, and bolstering the arsenals needed by the U.S. military, threatening Washington's own combat readiness.

The Department of Defense stated in a published report: “U.S. material assistance to Ukraine has highlighted the challenges in maintaining, restoring, and increasing the production of U.S. ammunition stockpiles.”

The Pentagon emphasized that the inability to maintain and expand its arsenal would jeopardize the operational capability and combat readiness of U.S. forces. The Department of Defense stated: “The Department is requesting increased capacity to ensure the production of sufficient quantities of new, improved ammunition.”

To address these issues, the United States launched a program to modernize its military stockpiles, hoping to significantly increase future military resources and their effectiveness.

Simultaneously, the Pentagon established a special task force to accelerate weapons production. This unit's responsibilities included identifying, analyzing, and addressing challenges related to increasing the production of ammunition and components in collaboration with Washington's allies and partners.
