According to RIA Novosti, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said on August 27 that the US is not seeking war with Russia. This was in response to the Russian Foreign Ministry's warning about the serious consequences of supporting Ukraine.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters that the US's escalatory approach to the situation around Ukraine was becoming more and more provocative, and the consequences for Washington could be much more serious than what has happened so far.

“I don’t know what that means. Again, we are not at war with Russia and we are not seeking conflict with Russia,” Pentagon spokesman Ryder told reporters when asked to comment on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s position.

The Pentagon spokesman said the US simply “supports a democratic nation” that needs weapons to defend itself.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at a combat meeting with commanders, said that “Western masters” were carrying out their will to fight Russia, with the help of Ukraine.
