The Pentagon insists the U.S. is not seeking conflict with Russia.

According to RIA Novosti, Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder said on August 27 that the US is not seeking war with Russia. This was in response to the Russian Foreign Ministry's warning about the serious consequences of supporting Ukraine.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told reporters that the US's escalating course of action was becoming increasingly provocative in the situation surrounding Ukraine, and that the consequences for Washington could be far more serious than what had happened so far.

"I don't know what this means. Again, we are not at war with Russia and we are not seeking conflict with Russia," Pentagon spokesman Ryder told reporters when asked to comment on the Russian Foreign Ministry's position.

A Pentagon spokesperson stated that the U.S. is simply "supporting a democratic nation" that needs weapons for self-defense.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at a combat briefing with commanders, said that "Western masters" were carrying out their will to fight Russia, with the help of Ukraine.
