The Pentagon is doubling its weapons arsenal to attack Syria.
(Baonghean.vn) - When asked how the US could guarantee that the attack would prevent the Assad regime from continuing to use chemical weapons, US Defense Secretary James Mattis declared: "Nothing is certain."

But according to him, this time, the US has doubled the number of weapons its military used compared to last year's attack in Syria.
He said: “The attack was carried out against targets that we believe were selected to inflict damage on the chemical weapons program. We limited the attack to targets related to chemical weapons. We didn’t broaden this; we were very precise and balanced. But at the same time, it was a powerful attack.”
A year ago, the U.S. also launched its first military attack on the Syrian government, a move that some consider a game-changer in the war-torn country.
Acting on orders from President Trump, US warships repeatedly fired missiles at a Syrian government air base on April 6, 2017, just one day after more than 80 Syrian civilians were killed in a chemical attack.
Trump stated that he took such action in response to the chemical attack because it "crossed a lot of lines for me."
In the latest related development, CNN reported that at least one US Navy warship stationed in the Red Sea was used in the latest attack on Syria, citing two military officials. According to these two sources, US B-1 bombers were also used in the attacks on the night of April 13th.
