Taking your life for... 100,000 VND

Upon encountering Phụng playing games at an internet cafe, Thống remembered the 100,000 dong debt he owed Phụng and pulled out a knife, stabbing Phụng to death.

At 7:30 PM on August 27th, a fight resulting in a death occurred in Hoa Ha hamlet, Kien An commune, Cho Moi district (An Giang province). The perpetrator was Nguyen Viet Thong (24 years old); the victim was Nguyen Van Phung (22 years old), both residing in Kien An commune, Cho Moi district.

According to the initial investigation, at 4 PM on the same day, Thong, along with Nguyen Van Du (22 years old) and a few other friends, held a drinking party at Thong's residence. During the party, Thong told his friends that Phung owed him 100,000 dong and had not only refused to pay but had also challenged him to a fight to settle the debt.

At 6:30 PM that same day, after finishing their drinking session, Thong invited Du to an internet cafe in Hoa Ha hamlet, Kien An commune, to play games. Thong brought a sharp knife with him.

Upon arriving at the internet cafe, Thong encountered Phung playing games there. The two then went outside the cafe and started fighting. During the altercation, Thong pulled out a knife and fatally stabbed Phung.

After committing the crime, Thong threw the knife into the river and then surrendered to the Cho Moi District Police. The case is still under investigation by the authorities.
