This morning, Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Nguyen Thien Nhan, Chairman of the People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong, and many other city leaders met with foreign-invested enterprises in 2018.

Speaking in English to foreign businesses, Mr. Nhan said that in recent years, foreign investors have made a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the city is currently facing difficulties and challenges regarding transportation infrastructure, environmental pollution, and immense pressure from overcrowding in hospitals, schools, and housing due to rapid population growth.

At the same time, the city is also heavily affected by climate change, with the serious risk of flooding hindering its sustainable development and negatively impacting the business operations of enterprises and the lives of its people.

Speaking at the conference, John Rockhold, CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), said that the United States has extensive experience in developing smart cities. Therefore, it is always ready and supportive of Ho Chi Minh City learning from and exchanging experiences with other smart cities.

Mr. Nicolas Audier, President of the European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham), also pledged support for Ho Chi Minh City in building it into a livable city. The association also wants to share Europe's experience in addressing urbanization issues, traffic congestion, flooding, etc.
