This morning, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong and many city leaders had a meeting with foreign-invested enterprises in 2018.

Speaking in English to foreign businesses, Mr. Nhan said that in recent years, foreign investors have made great contributions to the socio-economic development of Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the city is currently facing difficulties and challenges in terms of traffic infrastructure, environmental pollution, and great pressure on hospital, school and housing overload due to rapid population growth.

At the same time, the city is also heavily affected by climate change, the risk of serious flooding has hindered the sustainable development of the city, negatively affecting the production and business activities of enterprises and the lives of people.

From there, Mr. Nhan said, he hopes that foreign investors can cooperate with the city to solve these challenges.

According to Mr. Nhan, the city prioritizes taking the satisfaction of businesses and people as a measure for the development and service efficiency of the administrative apparatus.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Jonh Rockhold, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), said that the United States has a lot of experience in developing smart cities. Therefore, it is always ready and supportive of Ho Chi Minh City to learn and exchange with smart cities.

Mr. Nicolas Audier, Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce (Euro Cham) also pledged to support Ho Chi Minh City in building the city into a livable place. The association also wants to share European experience in solving problems of urbanization, traffic jams, flooding, etc.
