612th Anniversary Commemoration of Heroic King Nguyen Bieu

On August 23rd, which is the 1st day of the 7th lunar month of the Year of the Snake (2015), the people of Hung Nguyen Nam commune solemnly celebrated the 612th anniversary of the death of the heroic martyr Nguyen Bieu.

bna_1(1).jpg — The patriotic hero Nguyen Bieu was from Yen Ho commune, Duc Tho district, Ha Tinh province. He passed the Imperial Examination (Doctorate) during the Tran dynasty, served King Tran Trung Quang against the Ming invaders, and held the position of Imperial Censor. When the Ming army attacked Nghe An, Nguyen Bieu went on a diplomatic mission to sue for peace as ordered by the king. The Ming general, Zhang Fu, unable to subdue Nguyen Bieu, killed him on July 1st, 1413 (the year of Quy Ti). Photo: Huy Thu

According to local residents, the temple was originally a majestic three-bay, two-gable building at the foot of Lam Thanh Mountain. It was damaged during the war and was only restored in 2010.
