Festival of Lights with Millions of Light Bulbs in Japan
The impressive light show with millions of LED lights makes Nabana No Sato a must-see winter attraction in Japan.
This year’s main theme is “Kumamon’s Hometown Dream in Kumamoto,” which features Kumamon, the mascot bear of Kumamoto, traveling to the most beautiful places in the prefecture. The aim of the theme is to draw attention to the Kumamoto region, which was hit by the 2016 earthquake. |
This is the 14th year the festival has been held. Millions of colorful lights are lit, creating a magnificent scene like a fairyland. |
In addition, visitors can also have fun at the amusement park, giant ferris wheel or relax in the hot spring spa when coming here. |
Visitors can also admire the 100-meter long light tunnel at the resort. |
This year, the tunnel is decorated with a cherry blossom theme, representing the different stages of blooming of the flowers. |
The festival runs until May 2018. In spring, cherry blossoms blooming in the grounds will give the festival a new look. |
In 2017, the festival theme was “The Beauty of Mother Nature,” showcasing world-famous landscapes. Nabana No Sato attracts about 2 million visitors each year. |
