Lotus Village Festival 2025: A Special Cultural Milestone
These days, Nghe An province is bustling with preparations for the 2025 National Lotus Village Festival. This special event, held to commemorate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 – May 19, 2025), promises to bring together cultural highlights and profound gratitude towards the beloved leader.
Convergence of important milestones
The Sen Village Festival has long been an indispensable cultural and spiritual symbol of the people of Nghe An province and an occasion for every Vietnamese person to express their profound respect and boundless gratitude to President Ho Chi Minh – the national liberation hero and outstanding cultural figure.
From the 1981 Village Lotus Singing Festival, this event developed into a provincial-level festival in 2002 and, every five years, has been elevated to a national festival, coinciding with the anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth.
In 2025, the Lotus Village Festival will return on a national scale, organized through close cooperation between Nghe An province, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Public Security, and with the participation of many provinces and cities nationwide.
According to the plan, the activities of the 2025 Lotus Village Festival will take place from May 4th to 19th. The opening ceremony will be a moving evening event at 8 PM on May 15th, 2025, at the Lotus Village Stadium, Kim Lien Commune, Nam Dan District. The closing ceremony will be held on the evening of May 19th, 2025, at Ho Chi Minh Square, Vinh City.
This year's festival features a wide range of activities, harmoniously combining the solemnity and reverence of the ceremonial part with the vibrancy and excitement of the celebratory part.
The ceremonial part includes traditional activities such as: laying flowers at the Ho Chi Minh Monument, a parade to Ho Chi Minh's birthplace, laying flowers and incense at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial House and Chung Son Temple, and carrying a portrait of Ho Chi Minh from the memorial house to the Lang Sen stadium.
The festival includes spectacular art programs at the opening and closing ceremonies; the "Journey Following in Uncle Ho's Footsteps - For National Security" running race; a large-format propaganda poster exhibition; the "Village of Lotus Singing Festival" performance; the "ASEAN Countries and People" photo exhibition; the opening of the National Traditional Wrestling Championship; and the 2025 Village of Lotus Festival sports competition…
A particularly important event of the 2025 Lang Sen Village Festival is the inauguration of the "Uncle Ho Visits His Hometown" monument, located in the Lang Sen Village stadium, the site where Uncle Ho visited his hometown twice and spoke with the people. This is a meaningful gift from the Ministry of Public Security, expressing deep gratitude and respect for Uncle Ho. The statue is made of hydraulically pressed bronze using modern technology, recreating the simple and approachable image of Uncle Ho during his visits to his hometown. With a height of over 10 meters (the statue itself is 7.9 meters tall), this project promises to become an important cultural and historical symbol of Nghe An.
Another highlight was the inauguration of the nine-tiered waterfall at the tomb of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan. This structure expresses profound gratitude for the nurturing and upbringing provided by the beloved mother of President Ho Chi Minh. Inspired by images and objects associated with the life of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan and Vietnamese women of the 19th century, the structure is expected to enhance the beauty of the historical site and attract tourists. Each tier of the waterfall is carved with a different flower, symbolizing boundless gratitude.
Notably, for the first time within the framework of the Lotus Village Festival, locals and tourists will be able to admire a 15-minute low-altitude fireworks display at the Lotus Village stadium after the opening ceremony.
A unique cultural and tourism festival.
These days, preparations for the 2025 Lotus Village Festival are incredibly busy and exciting. The Lotus Village Stadium, the venue for the opening ceremony and many important activities, has been upgraded and equipped with a large stage and a modern sound and lighting system.
The grounds of the Kim Lien Historical Site are meticulously maintained, with lotus ponds being cultivated to bloom in May. Throughout the festival, the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union will mobilize volunteer youth to assist visitors with transportation and provide guided tours. Police and military units will strengthen security and order, ensuring an absolutely safe environment for the series of events. All are working together towards a brilliantly successful festival in the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh.

Leading up to the festival, the "I Love Vietnam So Much" project, implemented by Nhan Dan Newspaper in collaboration with technology partners at the Kim Lien Historical Site in late March, was also a significant highlight. The project utilizes NFC technology through a system of chip-embedded boards and smart interactive stations, allowing visitors to easily explore the rich archive of information about President Ho Chi Minh's homeland, family, and childhood with just a tap of their phone. Information is conveyed vividly through articles, images, and videos, providing a modern and engaging visitor experience.
The 2025 Lotus Village Festival is not just an ordinary commemorative event, but has elevated itself to a unique cultural and tourism festival, attracting a large number of people.
The provincial Department of Culture and Tourism has developed a well-structured communication strategy to spread the positive values of the festival, and plans to announce a special tour called "Returning to Uncle Ho's Hometown" to provide visitors with a complete experience in Kim Lien - Nam Dan and related historical sites. The unique combination of traditional activities and new attractions will surely create a memorable and emotional festival season.
