Launching Ceremony of the 2025 Gender Equality Action Month in Nghe An

Attending the ceremony were members of the Provincial Party Committee: Hoang Phu Hien - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Viet Hung - Director of the Department of Internal Affairs; Le Thi Hoai Chung - Director of the Department of Health; and Nguyen Quy Linh - Director of the Department of Science and Technology.

Also attending the launching ceremony were Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Hieu - Rector of Nghe An University, along with representatives from various departments, agencies, localities, teachers, and students of Nghe An University.

Today's launch ceremony marks the beginning of a communication campaign and activities for gender equality and the prevention and response to gender-based violence in 2025 across the province, and also marks the 10th consecutive year of the Gender Equality Action Month, which is implemented annually from November 15th to December 15th.

Speaking at the ceremony, Director of the Department of Internal Affairs Nguyen Viet Hung emphasized: After 18 years of implementing the Law on Gender Equality and 5 years of implementing the National Strategy for the period 2021-2030, Nghe An has achieved many positive results: Women account for more than 50% of the workforce, 31.5% of women are business owners, 30.77% are female National Assembly deputies, and 27.71% are female provincial People's Council deputies. Policies on poverty reduction, job creation, and improving living standards have helped millions of women and children access healthcare, education, and development opportunities. However, violence, abuse, child marriage, and gender stereotypes still exist, causing harm to women and children.

Director of the Department of Internal Affairs Nguyen Viet Hung proposed that all levels, sectors, and localities consider gender equality as a mandatory indicator in socio-economic development plans and digital transformation programs; at the same time, localities, departments, and agencies also need to build models to protect women and children in the digital environment, and improve online safety skills for women, students, and university students.

Educational institutions integrate gender equality and digital safety content into life skills education programs; build a school environment that is free from violence, abuse, bullying, gender stereotypes, and discrimination; and have mechanisms for timely detection, intervention, and support when students are victims or at risk.

Encourage and facilitate women and children, especially young women, students, female workers, and female laborers in industrial zones, to proactively equip themselves with digital skills and self-protection skills online; boldly report acts of violence, abuse, and harassment; and actively participate in courses, training programs, and communication campaigns on digital safety, life skills, emotional management, and self-protection.
