Le Quyen often torments herself in order to find the right emotions to sing bolero.
The female singer wants to aim for a more gentle and tender feel in her album "Khúc tình xưa 5," scheduled for release in January 2019.

Singer Le Quyen wore an ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) for a photoshoot promoting her album "Khuc Tinh Xua 5" (Old Love Songs 5). The photo series has a nostalgic style, reflecting the spirit of the bolero music genre in the album. |
The album consists of 14 songs, divided into two parts. Part one includes songs that were once loved by many people, such as: "Rain Through Empty Streets," "Heartache," "Dating," etc. |
In the later part, the "queen of tea rooms" brought together her students from the "Bolero Idol" competition, such as Trieu Quan, Manh Dong, and Y Linh. The singer of "Sorrowful Solitude" hoped this would be a beautiful memory as well as a stepping stone to help her students develop their artistic careers further after the competition. |
According to Le Quyen, pursuing the bolero genre is a way to contribute to preserving cultural values: "Old songs are like priceless works of art left behind by previous generations of musicians in enormous quantities. Another young singer performing old songs is another person helping to spread these songs." |
However, Le Quyen believes that artists must carefully cultivate their emotions, life experiences, and knowledge to be able to sing classic songs effectively. |
"The more suffering an artist goes through, the more heartfelt and profound their singing becomes. Sometimes, I intentionally hurt myself, reminiscing about my carefree youth to suppress my emotions. After completing an album, I often fall into a state of limbo because of sadness, and I don't want to talk to anyone," Le Quyen shared. |
In her new album, Le Quyen aims to showcase a more gentle and refined approach to her songwriting. Her close collaborators, composers Tan Phong, Vinh Tam, and Huu An, continue to assist her in creating the album, which is scheduled for release in January 2019. |
