Funeral ceremony for 22 officers and soldiers of Regiment 337 who died in Quang Tri.
(Baonghean.vn) - Early morning on October 22, thousands of people lined up to pay their respects to the 22 soldiers of Regiment 337 who died in the landslide in Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province.
On the morning of October 22nd, the funeral took place.22 officers and soldiers sacrificed their lives.Due to the landslide, the funeral service will be held according to military protocol at the Quang Tri Provincial Multi-Purpose Gymnasium. The viewing will take place from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM on October 22nd. The memorial service and procession will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
From early morning, thousands of people gathered to pay their respects to the fallen soldiers. Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh led the government delegation to the memorial. In the condolence book, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh expressed his deepest sorrow for the 22 soldiers who sacrificed their lives while carrying out disaster prevention and relief duties on October 18th.

"This is a tremendous sacrifice that leaves immeasurable grief for all officers and soldiers of the army and the people of the whole country, and at the same time, an irreplaceable pain and loss for their families and loved ones. The Party, the State and the People always acknowledge the great contributions and sacrifices of the 22 comrades, courageous officers and soldiers who were ready to go to remote areas and border regions to carry out their duties under extremely difficult, arduous, and dangerous conditions," the Deputy Prime Minister wrote.

On behalf of Nghe An province, Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - led the provincial delegation to pay respects and offer condolences to the families of the martyrs. Among the 22 officers and soldiers who sacrificed their lives, there were...8 people are from Nghe An province.Among them were soldiers who were only 19 or 20 years old.

Following the memorial service, the remains of the martyrs will be taken back to their hometowns for burial on October 23rd and 24th.
Earlier, in the early morning of October 18, a landslide unexpectedly occurred, collapsing onto the buildings of the 337th Economic-Defense Brigade in Cop village, Huong Phung commune, Huong Hoa district (Quang Tri province); 5 people were rescued, but 22 were buried, including 4 officers, 10 professional soldiers, and 8 enlisted men.
