Funeral of 22 officers and soldiers of Regiment 337 who died in Quang Tri
(Baonghean.vn) - Early morning on October 22, thousands of people lined up to pay their respects to 22 soldiers of Division 337 who died in a landslide in Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province.

From early morning, thousands of people lined up to pay their respects to the martyrs. Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh led a delegation from the Government to pay their respects. In the condolence book, Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh expressed his deep condolences to the 22 soldiers who sacrificed their lives while performing their duties of preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters on October 18.

"This is a great sacrifice that leaves behind endless sorrow for the officers and soldiers of the entire army and people of the whole country, and at the same time, an irreparable pain and loss for their families and relatives. The Party, State and People always acknowledge the great contributions and sacrifices of the 22 comrades, brave officers and soldiers, who were ready to go to the people in remote areas, border areas to carry out their tasks in extremely difficult, arduous and dangerous conditions," the Deputy Prime Minister wrote.

On the side of Nghe An province, comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee led the provincial delegation to visit and offer condolences to the families of the martyrs. Of the 22 officers and soldiers who sacrificed their lives, there were8 people from Nghe AnAmong these, there are soldiers who are only 19 or 20 years old.

After the memorial service, the martyrs' remains will be returned to their hometowns for burial on October 23 and 24.
Earlier, in the early morning of October 18, a landslide suddenly occurred, collapsing onto the houses of the 337th Economic - Defense Group in Cop village, Huong Phung commune, Huong Hoa district (Quang Tri); 5 people were rescued, 22 people were buried, including 4 officers, 10 professional soldiers and 8 soldiers.
