Candle lighting ceremony at the Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs Cemetery

(Baonghean.vn) - On the evening of July 26, at the Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery, Anh Son district, a candle lighting ceremony took place to pay tribute and offer incense to the heroic martyrs on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2023).

Attending the ceremony were comrade Le Hong Vinh - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; comrades of the Provincial Party Executive Committee: Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Vo Van Dung - Deputy Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; Nguyen Huu Sang - Secretary of Anh Son District Party Committee.

Also attending were representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches and sectors and a number of districts, cities and towns; relatives of martyrs, and a large number of people in Anh Son district and neighboring districts.

Candle lighting ceremony in gratitude and incense offering atVietnam - Laos International Martyrs Cemeteryis an activity within the framework of the 2023 "Drinking water, remember its source" Festival Program, aiming to express deep gratitude to the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland and performing noble international duties, affirming the morality of "Repaying gratitude" of the Vietnamese people.

In the ceremony program, the representative of Anh Son district leaders read the "Funeral Oration for Vietnamese - Lao soldiers at the Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs' Cemetery", affirming the contributions of the heroic martyrs since leaving their families and homeland to carry out international missions, helping the Lao ethnic groups, lighting up the heroic tradition of the nation and contributing to fostering the beautiful Vietnam - Laos friendship.

The delegates offered flowers, incense and offerings to express their respect, gratitude and remembrance of the heroic martyrs. On this occasion, the union members and youth lit candles for 10,836 graves at the Vietnam - Laos International Martyrs Cemetery.

The festival "When drinking water, remember its source" is held annually in Anh Son district, to commemorate the great merits and sacrifices of heroic martyrs who spared no effort in sacrificing their blood, bones, and youth for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and for the noble international mission.

This year's festival takes place from July 19 to 27 with many meaningful activities. The ceremony includes the following activities: Opening Ceremony, Prayer Ceremony, Announcement Ceremony, Memorial Ceremony and Thanksgiving Ceremony. The festival includes a Youth Football Tournament and Exhibition of typical agricultural products and OCOP products.
