Apart from the regrettable absence of Pham Tran Phuong (who brought a lot of excitement to music lovers in the first round with the song 0:00 hour) due to personal reasons, episode 8 is a battle to find the finalists of seven contestants: Bui Caroon, Nguyen Viet Dung, Duc Anh, Tia Hai Chau, Hoang Minh Quy, Jak Nguyen and Le Thien Hieu.

In this Competition and Composition round, Coach Le Minh Son’s team had the help of music advisor, musician Nguyen Cuong. Coach Le Minh Son assigned the topic of Family and Society to his contestants. He himself admitted that this topic would be a double-edged sword, if not written carefully it would be very “bland”.

After a day of composing and performing the demo Tia Hai Chau, Le Thien Hieu and Jak Nguyen were the three faces chosen by coach Le Minh Son. Music advisor Nguyen Cuong decided to save Bui Caroon to go to the Challenge round on stage.

The contestant Bui Caroon opened the challenge. Using the image of a cat, Bui Caroon wanted to express the hardships of life and making a living through his own music with the song Poor Cat. The melody and especially the pitiful sound of a cat meowing in this song gave listeners goosebumps.

Judge Giang Son commented: "When changing the tempo, I feel very interesting, giving us different states and only you can sing this song, a good arrangement is also good".

As a result, Bui Caroon only received 10/31 points from the expert panel.

Next is the performance of the only female contestant in Coach Le Minh Son's team: Tia Hai Chau. This is a song that Tia Hai Chau wrote about a friend's deceased mother called Mother Used to Be.

Coach Giang Son praised Tia Hai Chau for having a very unique voice and a very good arrangement that greatly enhanced the song.

Coach Le Minh Son commented: “This is a musical style similar to songs from the 70s. Finding an artist like you now, I feel like I can count it on my fingers. After this competition, I would like to be your producer, because you are lacking a producer by your side.”

As a result, Tia Hai Chau only received 11/31 points from the professional jury.

The third contestant to perform was Jak Nguyen, and he also brought a song about mothers, called The Smell of Mother. He told the story of his mother, who had to struggle with her business to support him. He said that every time he ran to hug her, she would push him away and say, “You stink.” But for Jak Nguyen, that was the smell of life, which always followed him and “haunted” him, making him remind himself to try harder to be filial to his mother.

Coach Le Minh Son said: “Jak Nguyen has conquered me, and this song is much better than the previous one, and you are full of emotions. Congratulations.”

As a result, Jak Nguyen received 22/31 points from the expert panel.

The last contestant to perform on stage was Le Thien Hieu, who has been causing a "storm" on social media for a while now with the song Ong ba anh. He brought the song 1+1 with the philosophy of life "can I live regardless of life" and promised to cause a "fever" again with his unique music and ability to stir up the stage.

Coach Duc Tri said: “You always bring excitement, I am speechless because I dare not ask you why 1+1=3. You bring me to many emotional levels. You are a star shining on a very bright star, because all the energy put into you is released into extremely graceful lyrics”.

And his song 1+1 received 31/31 points from the panel of experts.

After four performances, Le Thien Hieu was the leading contestant and won overwhelmingly in terms of points, so he was the only contestant from Le Minh Son's team to enter the finals.

Episode 9 of Sing my song, which is also the final episode of the Composition and Competition round, will be the competition of Coach Giang Son's team, and will air at 9:00 p.m. on January 15 on VTV3 - Vietnam Television.
