Memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong
The memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong will be held at 7:00 a.m. at the National Funeral Home No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong (Hanoi), Thong Nhat Hall (HCMC) and Hall T50, Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command.

At the National Funeral House, the funeral was attended by General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, along with family and people.

The Deputy Prime Minister said that in recent days, in memory of former President Tran Duc Luong, more than 800 delegations with 10,500 people representing central and local agencies, organizations, units, people's armed forces, intellectuals, religious dignitaries, domestic organizations and individuals, international delegates and compatriots, have come to pay their respects to the former President at the National Funeral House, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong (Hanoi), Thong Nhat Hall (HCMC) and Hall T50, Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command.

Many leaders of countries and international friends came to pay their respects and express their condolences to the Party, State, people of Vietnam and the family of the former President.
After a brief announcement, the Tien Quan song began. The national anthem ended and President Luong Cuong, Head of the funeral organizing committee, stepped up to the podium to read the eulogy.

After the President read the eulogy, leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, family and those present at the National Funeral House observed a minute of silence for former President Tran Duc Luong.

Family and Party and State leaders bid farewell to former President Tran Duc Luong
After Mr. Tran Tuan Anh's words of thanks, to the music "Soul of the dead", Mrs. Nguyen Thi Vinh, wife of former President Tran Duc Luong, led the family around the coffin to bid him farewell for the last time. She burst into tears.
Afterwards, Party and State leaders and delegates took turns walking around the coffin to bid farewell to the former President. General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and other leaders and former leaders walked slowly around.

Funeral ceremony of former President Tran Duc Luong
The funeral procession begins, taking the coffin of former President Tran Duc Luong to Noi Bai airport to return to his hometown Quang Ngai.
Vietnam People's Army officers and the Honor Guard prepare procedures to conduct the funeral procession. Vietnam People's Army officers carry the portrait and the medal frame of the former President.
Next, three honor guards carried the portrait, medals and national flag draped over the coffin out of the funeral home.
Behind, the honor guards divided into two rows carrying the coffin to the funeral home yard - where the hearse was placed.

General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong placed their hands on the coffin and escorted former President Tran Duc Luong out of the funeral home and toward the hearse. Behind them were the family and delegates bidding farewell to the former President.

The hearse carrying his remains will pass through a series of Hanoi streets to Noi Bai airport, move to Da Nang airport, then return to his hometown in Pho Khanh commune, Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province.

The funeral of former President Tran Duc Luong will take place at 3:00 p.m.
The funeral and burial were broadcast live on television and radio.

Mr. Tran Duc Luong, former member of the Politburo, former President, former Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, born on May 5, 1937; hometown: Pho Khanh commune, Duc Pho district (now Duc Pho town), Quang Ngai province.
During more than 50 years of revolutionary activities, he made many great contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He was awarded the Gold Star Order, the 65-year Party membership badge and many other noble orders, medals, awards and titles by the Party and the State.
More than 9,000 people visited former President Tran Duc Luong
On May 24, 655 delegations (with about 9,300 people) representing leaders of the Party, State, ministries, branches, organizations, localities, units, people's armed forces, diplomatic delegations, representatives of international organizations and friends, and compatriots came to visit, send wreaths, and express condolences to the family of former President Tran Duc Luong.
Delegations of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, officers and soldiers of the armed forces, along with a large number of officers, party members and people from all walks of life came to locations in the three regions to attend the funeral of former President Tran Duc Luong; expressing gratitude, respect and condolences to the leader who devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese people.
According to regulations, the funeral service force includes 4 officers on duty at the four corners of the coffin; 6 soldiers carrying guns standing outside; 2 honor guards standing in front of the funeral home; 1 national flag team; 1 military flag team; honor guards of the three military services (127 officers and soldiers), and military band serving the funeral service.
The funeral service force includes 1 officer carrying the photo, 1 officer carrying the medal pillow, 1 officer wrapping the flag. The working team includes 1 officer and 12 soldiers carrying the coffin; 7 soldiers preparing the hearse; honor guard of the three military services.
Funeral vehicles prepared by the Ministry of National Defense include: 1 command vehicle; 1 vehicle carrying the National Flag, photos, and Medal pillows; 1 vehicle carrying the Military Flag; 6 vehicles carrying the honor guard; 1 flower car; 1 hearse trailer (at the end of the hearse is a 122mm howitzer); 1 backup vehicle; 2 information vehicles, and 1 ambulance.
