Memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong
The memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong will be held at 7:00 AM at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong Street (Hanoi), the Thong Nhat Hall (Ho Chi Minh City), and the T50 Hall, Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command.

At the National Funeral Home, the memorial service was attended by General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, current and former leaders of the Party and State, along with family members and citizens.

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh, Head of the Funeral Organizing Committee, declared the memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong officially open.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that in recent days, in remembrance of former President Tran Duc Luong, more than 800 delegations with 10,500 people, representing central and local agencies and organizations, units, the people's armed forces, intellectuals, religious dignitaries, domestic organizations and individuals, international delegates, and compatriots and comrades, have come to pay their respects to the former President at the National Funeral Home, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong (Hanoi), the Thong Nhat Hall (Ho Chi Minh City), and the T50 Hall, Quang Ngai Provincial Military Command.

Many leaders of other countries and international friends came to pay their respects and offer condolences to the Party, State, people of Vietnam, and the family of the former President.
Following a brief statement, the national anthem, "Marching Song," played. After the national anthem ended, President Luong Cuong, head of the funeral organizing committee, stepped onto the platform to deliver the eulogy.

After the President delivered the eulogy, leaders, former leaders of the Party and State, family members, and those present at the National Funeral Home observed a minute of silence in memory of former President Tran Duc Luong.

Family and leaders of the Party and State bid farewell to former President Tran Duc Luong.
Following Mr. Tran Tuan Anh's words of gratitude, to the sound of the "Song of the Fallen Soldiers," Mrs. Nguyen Thi Vinh, wife of former President Tran Duc Luong, led the family in a procession around the coffin to bid him farewell for the last time. She burst into tears.
Afterwards, Party and State leaders and delegates successively walked around the coffin to bid farewell to the former President. General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, and other leaders and former leaders walked slowly around the coffin.

Funeral procession of former President Tran Duc Luong
The funeral procession has begun, carrying the coffin of former President Tran Duc Luong to Noi Bai Airport for his return to his hometown of Quang Ngai.
Officers of the Vietnam People's Army and the ceremonial team prepare the procedures for the funeral procession. Officers of the Vietnam People's Army carry the portrait and the frame displaying the medals and decorations of the former President.
Next, three honor guards carried the portrait, medals, and national flag draped over the coffin out of the funeral home.
Behind them, the honor guard soldiers, divided into two rows, carried the coffin out to the courtyard of the funeral home – where the hearse was placed.

General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong placed their hands on the coffin, escorting former President Tran Duc Luong out of the funeral home and towards the hearse. Behind them were family members and delegates bidding farewell to the former President.

The hearse carrying his remains will travel through a series of streets in Hanoi to Noi Bai Airport, then to Da Nang Airport, and finally to his hometown in Pho Khanh commune, Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province.

The funeral ceremony for former President Tran Duc Luong took place at 3 PM.
The memorial service and burial were broadcast live on television and radio.

Mr. Tran Duc Luong, former member of the Politburo, former President of Vietnam, and former Chairman of the National Defense and Security Council, was born on May 5, 1937; his hometown is Pho Khanh commune, Duc Pho district (now Duc Pho town), Quang Ngai province.
Throughout more than 50 years of revolutionary activity, he made immense contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. He was awarded the Gold Star Order, the 65-Year Party Membership Badge, and many other prestigious orders, medals, awards, and titles by the Party and the State.
Over 9,000 people paid their respects to former President Tran Duc Luong.
On May 24th, 655 delegations (with approximately 9,300 people) including leaders of the Party and State, ministries, departments, organizations, localities, units, the People's Armed Forces, diplomatic delegations, representatives of international organizations and friends, and fellow citizens came to pay their respects, lay wreaths, and offer condolences to the family of former President Tran Duc Luong.
Delegations from the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, cadres and soldiers of the armed forces, along with a large number of officials, Party members, and people from all walks of life, visited locations across the three regions to attend the memorial service for former President Tran Duc Luong; expressing gratitude, respect, and sorrow for the leader who dedicated his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the Vietnamese nation.
According to regulations, the personnel serving at the funeral ceremony include 4 officers standing guard at the four corners of the coffin; 6 soldiers with rifles standing outside; 2 honor guards standing in front of the funeral home; 1 national flag team; 1 military flag team; an honor guard from the three branches of the armed forces (127 officers and soldiers), and a military band serving at the funeral ceremony.
The funeral procession included one officer carrying the portrait, one officer carrying the medal cushion, and one officer wrapping the flag. The working team consisted of one officer and twelve soldiers carrying the coffin; seven soldiers preparing the hearse; and an honor guard from the three branches of the armed forces.
The vehicles for the funeral service, prepared by the Ministry of National Defense, include: 1 command vehicle; 1 vehicle carrying the national flag, portrait, and medal cushion; 1 vehicle carrying the military flag; 6 vehicles carrying the honor guard; 1 flower vehicle; 1 vehicle towing the hearse (with a 122mm howitzer at the rear); 1 reserve vehicle; 2 communication vehicles; and 1 ambulance.
