Leicester solidified their lead at the top of the table, extending their five-point gap with Tottenham.
Riyad Mahrez's solitary goal secured a 1-0 victory for the league leaders against hosts Watford in the 29th round of the Premier League.
Immediately after the opening whistle, the visiting team launched an attack with great enthusiasm. In the second minute, Jamie Vardy broke free to receive a long pass from a teammate, dribbled past goalkeeper Gomes, but his subsequent shot was blocked by a Watford defender who closed the angle.
Shortly after, Christian Fuchs unleashed a powerful left-footed volley, but goalkeeper Gomes made a diving save. Shinji Okazaki rushed in for the rebound but failed to score. In the 14th minute, Vardy again made a clever run to receive a through pass. This time, he attempted a left-footed volley, but the ball went wide.

In the 24th minute, Jamie Vardy had the best chance of the match so far. Stealing the ball from Sebastian Prodl, the English striker played out wide to Riyad Mahrez and then ran in to receive a cross. However, pressure from Prodl forced Vardy to shoot wide from just five meters.
After a series of attempts to break down the defense, Leicester were rewarded with a spectacular goal from Riyad Mahrez in the 56th minute. Receiving the ball from Fuchs' cross, the Algerian midfielder controlled it with one touch before shooting with his left foot from the edge of the penalty area. The ball nestled into the far corner of the net, leaving goalkeeper Gomes with no chance. This was Mahrez's 15th goal of the season.
For the remainder of the match, Leicester created numerous opportunities but failed to score. Meanwhile, Watford's resistance was somewhat weak. They had no significant threats and had to accept a 0-1 defeat.
This victory helps Claudio Ranieri's team extend their lead over second-placed Tottenham to five points. Previously, the "Spurs" were held to a 2-2 draw by Arsenal in the North London derby.
With only nine rounds remaining in the Premier League, this is a significant advantage for Leicester in the title race. More importantly, from now until the end of the season, "The Foxes" only have to play in the Premier League, and their opponents are mostly weaker teams.
On March 15th, Leicester will play their next match, against Newcastle in the 30th round of the Premier League.
