Lenovo launches ThinkPad P1 Gen 9: Breakthrough with LPCAMM2 RAM and 1,500-nit Tandem OLED display.
The ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 features an Intel Panther Lake chip, 64GB of LPCAMM2 RAM, and a 1,500-nit Tandem OLED display, delivering outstanding performance for a 16-inch mobile workstation.
Lenovo has officially launched the ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 mobile workstation in select international markets. This is a significant upgrade over its predecessor, focusing on optimizing performance through Intel's latest hardware architecture and the advanced LPCAMM2 RAM standard.
Powered by Intel Panther Lake processors and Blackwell graphics.
The ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 is equipped with the latest Intel Panther Lake processor line. Currently, users can choose from versions including the Core Ultra 7 356H, Core Ultra 7 366H vPro, and the top-of-the-line Core Ultra 9 386H vPro. These chips are optimized for demanding computing tasks and intensive AI processing.
In terms of graphics capabilities, the machine integrates a dedicated Nvidia RTX Pro 2000 GPU based on the Blackwell architecture with 8 GB of VRAM. Notably, Lenovo applies a tiered configuration policy by not allowing dedicated GPUs on the most basic processor version, in order to ensure a balance between thermal performance and power consumption.
A breakthrough with LPCAMM2 RAM standard and massive storage capacity.
The most significant technical highlight of the ThinkPad P1 Gen 9 is the use of LPCAMM2 RAM instead of the traditional SO-DIMM standard. This memory standard not only saves internal space but also provides higher bandwidth and better power efficiency. The machine supports up to 64 GB of LPCAMM2 RAM, meeting the needs of 4K video rendering or running complex simulation models.
In terms of storage, the device features two M.2 2280 slots, allowing for expansion up to a maximum capacity of 8 TB using PCIe Gen 5. The superior read and write speeds of the Gen 5 standard significantly reduce waiting times when working with large files.
Tandem OLED display with ultra-bright 1,500 nits.
Lenovo offers three display options for the ThinkPad P1 Gen 9, catering to a wide range of customers from office workers to professional graphic designers:
- Option 1:The IPS panel has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, a brightness of 500 nits, a refresh rate of 60 Hz, and achieves 100% sRGB color coverage.
- Option 2:The IPS panel has a resolution of 3,840 x 2,400 pixels, a brightness of 800 nits, a refresh rate of 60 Hz, and achieves 100% DCI-P3 color coverage.
- Option 3 (Highest level):The Tandem OLED panel boasts a resolution of 3,200 x 2,000 pixels, a maximum brightness of up to 1,500 nits, support for variable refresh rates (VRR) from 40-120 Hz, and 100% DCI-P3 color coverage.
