Latest Hanoi students' summer vacation schedule for 2026

Hanoi students will begin their 2026 summer vacation after completing the 2025-2026 school year, according to the timetable issued by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

According to the 2025-2026 school year plan, preschools, primary and secondary schools, and continuing education institutions in the city must complete their programs and end the school year before May 31, 2026.

Specifically, the second semester will end on May 29, 2026, which falls on a Friday. The closing ceremony and end of the school year is set for May 30, 2026, which is a Saturday.

After that date, Hanoi students will officially begin their summer vacation from May 31, 2026, until the start of the new school year 2026-2027.

To date, the official start date for the 2026-2027 school year has not been announced. However, following the practice of previous years, Hanoi students usually start school about a week before the opening ceremony on September 5th.

Specifically, students in grades 1, 9, and 12 may be scheduled to start school about two weeks earlier to prepare for the new school year and important learning content.

In addition to the summer vacation schedule for students, the Government has also recently issued a decree guiding the Law on Teachers, with specific regulations on summer vacation time for teachers.

Accordingly, teachers at preschools, primary and secondary schools, and special schools will have an 8-week summer break, including their annual leave.

For teachers at continuing education institutions, the minimum summer vacation is 4 weeks and the maximum is 8 weeks, which also includes the legally mandated annual leave.

During the summer break, teachers will still receive their full salary and allowances as per current regulations.
