The Lunar New Year holiday for students in Hanoi in 2026 will last 5 days, from February 16th, 2026 (29th day of the 12th lunar month) to February 20th, 2026 (4th day of the 1st lunar month).

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training has announced the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for the year 2026 (Year of the Horse) for preschool children, students, trainees, and all staff, civil servants, and workers in the capital's education sector.

According to regulations,Hanoi students will have a 5-day Lunar New Year holiday., including1 day before Tet and 4 days after Tet, fromMonday, February 16, 2026 (which is the 29th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Snake)until the endFriday, February 20, 2026 (the 4th day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Horse)This holiday schedule is implemented uniformly in accordance with general state regulations.

Along with issuing the holiday schedule, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requires all units and schools to publicly and promptly announce the Tet holiday schedule to all staff, teachers, employees, students, and trainees. At the same time, educational institutions must arrange staff on duty during Tet according to regulations, ensuring the continuous operation of the unit and promptly handling any situations that may arise during the holiday.

The Hanoi education sector also requires schools to thoroughly understand and strictly implement the directives from the Central Government and the city regarding the organization of the 2026 New Year's Day and the 2026 Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse), ensuring safety, economy, and compliance with regulations.

In addition, units need to coordinate closely with local police to ensure the safety of facilities and equipment, and to prevent fires and explosions throughout the Tet holiday. Schools are also required to pay attention to and care for the material and spiritual well-being of staff, teachers, employees, and students; and to organize visits and provide support to those in difficult circumstances and families entitled to preferential policies.

After the Lunar New Year holiday, educational institutions in Hanoi must quickly stabilize teaching and learning routines, ensuring that educational activities return to normal according to the school year plan.
