Students in Ho Chi Minh City will have a Lunar New Year holiday from February 12th (the 25th day of the 12th lunar month) to February 22nd (the 6th day of the 1st lunar month).
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students of all levels in the city. Accordingly, students in preschool, primary, secondary, and continuing education will have their Tet holiday starting from [date].February 12, 2026 (25th day of the 12th lunar month)until the end of the dayFebruary 22, 2026 (6th day of the first lunar month).
So,The total Tet holiday for students in Ho Chi Minh City is 11 days.This is shorter than the maximum 14-day holiday period previously proposed by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training. The holiday schedule was agreed upon by the City People's Committee based on the proposal from the Department of Education and Training in the submission dated December 11, 2025.
At many schools, the Tet holiday schedule has been specifically announced to parents and students. Nguyen Binh Khiem Primary School stated that students will be on holiday from February 12th to 22nd. Before the holiday, on February 11th (the 24th day of the 12th lunar month), the school will hold a Spring Festival with the theme "The Loving Colors of Spring," after which students will go home at noon and begin their Tet holiday.
Some schools flexibly adjusted their plans to allow students to have a longer holiday. Tran Van On Secondary School stated that students were given a day off earlier than the general schedule, for a total of 12 days, after participating in cultural activities related to Tet (Lunar New Year) in the preceding days.
At the high school level, many schools are implementing make-up classes or online learning. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School and Le Quy Don High School allowed students to take an earlier Tet holiday than scheduled, combining online learning and make-up classes on Saturdays. With this arrangement, students at some schools may have a better Tet holiday break.up to 16 days, convenient for travel and family reunions.
During the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires educational institutions to ensure holiday duty arrangements, security and order, fire prevention, and to coordinate with families in managing students, reminding students not to violate the law, not to use firecrackers, and to strictly comply with traffic safety regulations.
