Asian Cup 2023 Knockout Round Schedule
Round of 16: January 28 - January 31
Quarter-finals: 2/2 - 3/2
Semi-finals: February 6th - 7th

The 2023 Asian Cup brings together the 24 best teams in the continent. Host nation Qatar is also the defending champion, having defeated Japan 3-1 in the final five years ago.
According to the rules, the teams will compete in a round-robin format within their groups to select the top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, to advance to the Round of 16.
At the 2023 Asian Cup, the Vietnamese national team is in Group D along with strong opponents including Japan, Iraq, and Indonesia. Interestingly, Iraq and Indonesia are also the two opponents of coach Philippe Troussier's team in the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian region. In this year's tournament, the Vietnamese team will play at three stadiums: Al Thumama Stadium (against Japan, January 14), Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium (against Indonesia, January 19), and Jassim bin Hamad Stadium (against Iraq, January 24).
