According to the schedule, the Vietnam U22 team will begin their Panda Cup campaign with a match against the host team, China U22, at 6:35 PM on November 12th. Following that, they will face Uzbekistan U22 (November 15th) and conclude the tournament with a match against South Korea U22 (November 18th).
This is the third consecutive time the Vietnam U22 team has been invited to participate in the Panda Cup. In their most recent appearance in March 2025, the team made a strong impression by remaining undefeated in all three matches and finishing third overall. Immediately after arriving in Chengdu, the Vietnam U22 team held their first training session on the afternoon of November 11th to familiarize themselves with the pitch and adjust their biological rhythm. The team brought a squad including many prominent players who recently participated in the 2026 U23 Asian Cup qualifiers, including Dinh Bac, Van Khang, Thanh Nhan, Quoc Viet, and Bui Vi Hao.
The coaching staff expects the Vietnam U22 team to make the most of the opportunity to gain experience at the Panda Cup 2025 to test their tactical abilities, coordination between lines, and experiment with new positions. Matches against strong opponents like South Korea U22 or Uzbekistan U22 are seen as a true measure of the capabilities of the young Vietnamese players.

After the Panda Cup concludes, the Vietnam U22 team will return home and begin a crucial training phase for the 33rd SEA Games. From November 23rd, the team will gather in Vung Tau to focus on physical fitness and tactics before departing for Thailand on December 2nd. At this year's Games, Vietnam U22 is in Group B along with Malaysia U22 and Laos U22 – a group of opponents considered to be of similar strength but potentially posing significant challenges.
The goal of the Vietnam U22 team is to reach the semi-finals, while simultaneously affirming the position of Vietnamese youth football in the region.
