The Vietnamese U20 women's team is currently coached by Masahiko Okiyama (Japan). The team qualified for the finals after winning all three qualifying matches, demonstrating thorough preparation for the major tournament.
At the 2024 AFC U20 Women's Championship in Uzbekistan, the Vietnam U20 women's team was eliminated from the group stage after three consecutive losses: 0-10 against Japan, 0-6 against North Korea, and 1-6 against China. With experience from their previous participation, the team hopes for a better result this year.

The 2026 AFC U20 Women's Championship will take place from April 1 to 18, 2026 in Thailand. This is the second time Thailand has hosted the tournament, after hosting it in 2019.
The top four teams in the finals will qualify for the 2026 U20 Women's World Cup in Poland. The North Korean U20 women's team is the defending champion and also one of the top contenders for the title this year.
