34-nation coalition is training Ukrainian army
(Baonghean.vn) - The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that a coalition of 34 countries is participating in training the Ukrainian army.

According to Ria Novosti on January 6, in an interview with the ArmyInform publication of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on January 5, the head of the Main Directorate of Doctrine and Training of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexei Taran, said that a coalition of 34 countries, with about 170 headquarters, has been established, participating in the training of the Armed Forces of Ukraine abroad. Those countries are the United States, the United Kingdom, most countries in the European Union (EU), Canada, Norway, Australia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Georgia, Moldova and Albania.
Mr. Taran added that the EU countries do not include Hungary, Austria, Croatia. Leading the organization of basic combined arms training for the Ukrainian army are specialists from the UK.
Taran noted that Kiev's partner countries that train Ukrainian military personnel do not do this independently, but as part of the organizational structure. Accordingly, there are two such support groups.
"The Security Assistance Group of Ukraine - SAG-U, is headed by the United States. The second group, EUMAM - the main function of which is to organize, coordinate and provide all types of training activities. Starting with the training of new recruits, and ending with the restoration of the combat effectiveness of units, brigades, command posts, which fought and suffered losses," Taran said.
The head of the Main Directorate of Doctrine and Training of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the EUMAM group is led by Lieutenant General of the Netherlands Army Michael Vanderleen. In addition, about 170 headquarters and units of different levels have been established and training is being organized in Poland, France, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy, Romania and North Macedonia. Over two years, more than 21,000 Ukrainian servicemen have been trained./.
