On December 7, the Syrian state news agency SANA reported that dozens of Syrian civilians had been killed after the US-led coalition against the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) continued its airstrikes in Deir Ezzor province, eastern Syria.
According to SANA, the airstrike targeted the town of Hajin north of the capital Deir Ezzor, killing eight members of one family.
Two days earlier, five Syrian civilians, mostly women and children, were killed in a US-led coalition airstrike in the same town of Hajin.
The airstrikes also caused significant damage to many civilian buildings and private property in the area.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry has previously called on the United Nations Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and prevent the US-led coalition from carrying out airstrikes that cause civilian casualties in the country.
