Sentenced to prison for killing a man due to a dispute at a wedding.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of November 18th, the Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial to hear the murder case against Hoang Van Nam (born in 1989), Nguyen Van Toan (born in 1989), and Nguyen Tat Linh (born in 1988), all residing in Nam Linh commune, Nam Dan district. In this case, Phan Huu Quynh (born in 1991, residing in Xuan Lam commune, Nam Dan district) is also being prosecuted for disturbing public order..

According to the indictment of the Provincial People's Procuracy, Phan Huu Quynh and Phan Huu Quan (the victims in the case) had a conflict with Le Van Loc at a friend's wedding. Around 1:30 PM on January 31, 2015, Quynh and Quan took bricks and stones and blocked the road to attack Loc. Hoang Van Nam and Nguyen Tat Linh, on their way home from the wedding, saw Quynh and Quan standing by the roadside with stones, so they got off their motorbike to pick up stones to defend themselves. Seeing the large group of young men from Nam and Linh, Quynh ran away, and Nam and Linh chased after him. Toan and Quan joined the fight. Ten minutes later, unable to catch Quynh, Nam and Linh returned to "assist" Toan in attacking Quan. Hoang Van Nam used a stick to hit Quan once on the head, causing him to fall to the ground. Toan and Linh then kicked Quan in the head and body. Afterwards, all three jumped on their motorbike and fled home.

Phan Huu Quan was rushed to the hospital but died later due to severe injuries. The cause of death was determined to be a fractured skull and brain hemorrhage due to trauma.

Following the murder, Hoang Van Nam compensated the victim's family with 40 million VND, while Nguyen Tat Linh and Nguyen Van Toan each compensated Phan Huu Quan's family with 15 million VND.

At the trial, the defendants confessed honestly and showed remorse, and the victim's representative also requested the court to consider reducing the sentences for the defendants. After a comprehensive review of the case, the panel of judges sentenced Hoang Van Nam to 8 years in prison and Nguyen Van Toan to 4 years in prison for murder; Nguyen Tat Linh was sentenced to 3 years in prison with a suspended sentence for murder; and Phan Huu Quynh was sentenced to 9 months in prison with a suspended sentence for disturbing public order.
