Experts believe such exercises are typical of training against nations possessing advanced aircraft capable of rapid response after landing. According to Popular Mechanics, those nations are most likely Russia and China.
The FIM-92 Stinger is in service with the US military.since 1981 and first used in the Falklands conflict.
The 82nd Airborne Division is the primary airborne unit of the U.S. Army. In the event of a potential conflict, this force would be deployed close to the conflict zone to prepare landing sites for main force troops.
