The military parade in China commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory over Japanese fascism in World War II was broadcast on China Central Television channels CCTV1, CCTV2, CCTV3.

The parade, presided over by President Xi Jinping, is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on September 3 at Tiananmen Square, with the participation of many international leaders.

The 70-minute parade with 45 formations marked the first time the militia participated and showcased a range of cutting-edge domestic weapons, from cyber warfare to hypersonic missiles.

China unveils never-before-revealed high-tech weapon

The parade will feature hundreds of aircraft and a variety of previously undisclosed high-tech weapons. Precision-strike missiles that travel five times the speed of sound, anti-ship missiles and hypersonic weapons are expected to be the centerpieces, showcasing the expansion of China's arsenal.

The entire program has 45 formation blocks, organized according to real combat situations.

Groups include: land and sea operations, air defense, missile defense, information warfare, unmanned operations, logistics support and strategic strike. Many units are equipped with advanced weapons, including important national weapons.

The air force will demonstrate system modules, including early warning aircraft, fighters, bombers and transport aircraft.

These are most of the main combat aircraft currently in service with the People's Liberation Army (PLA).

While focusing on showcasing its military capabilities, Beijing is also trying to portray itself as a peace-loving nation. Some of its troops involved in UN peacekeeping operations will also be present.
