Liverpool leaders are confident that they will have the services of goalkeeper Jack Butland (Stoke) in the next summer transfer window with a record fee of 40 million pounds.

The 24-year-old has impressed for Stoke this season after a long period of injury. If he continues to maintain his form, Butland will take the No. 1 position in the England goal at the 2018 World Cup.

Butland is in good form for Stoke.

Arsenal are also interested in Butland, but sources close to the goalkeeper say he wants to move to Anfield because he enjoys working with manager Jurgen Klopp.

Stoke are willing to lose their star man, but will demand a world-record fee for a goalkeeper of around £40m.

If the deal goes through, Butland will surpass Ederson to become the most expensive goalkeeper in the world. Last summer, Liverpool's neighbours Everton also spent £30 million to bring in young goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Previously, The Kop also kept an eye on Roma's Alisson. However, after careful consideration, Klopp and his colleagues decided to buy Jack Butland because he has many years of experience playing in the Premier League.

Last winter, Jurgen Klopp brought the world's most expensive defender Virgil van Dijk to Anfield for £75 million. Now, he wants to strengthen his defense with a quality goalkeeper.

Although Loris Karius has had some good performances recently, the German captain believes that Butland brings more reliability in Liverpool's goal.

If Butland is recruited, Karius will take on a reserve role. Meanwhile, Belgian goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is likely to be put up for sale.
