Liverpool inquired about signing Tchouameni after the draw against Manchester United.

Joining Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 for €80 million from Monaco, Tchouameni was expected to be a key player in midfield. However, the 24-year-old has yet to establish a secure place at Santiago Bernabéu.

In the 2024/25 season, he made 21 appearances in all competitions, but mostly outside his preferred defensive midfield position. Coach Carlo Ancelotti often used him as a makeshift center-back, which displeased Tchouameni and led him to consider looking for a new club.

Liverpool previously pursued Tchouameni before he chose Real Madrid. Currently, the Merseyside club is in desperate need of a quality defensive midfielder to strengthen their squad in the Premier League title race.

Liverpool's £41 million offer is significantly lower than Tchouameni's €80 million transfer value according to Transfermarkt. This could be difficult for Real Madrid to accept, especially since they have no intention of selling a player who still has a lot of potential.

However, if Tchouameni is determined to leave in order to play regularly in his preferred position, Liverpool could be the ideal destination. The Reds could offer him a more stable playing environment where he can be used in his true defensive midfield role.

Besides Liverpool, several other big clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea are also reportedly interested in Tchouameni. This could make the race to sign him more difficult and drive up his transfer fee.
