Fearing their SIM cards might be blocked, people in Nghe An are busy verifying their subscriptions.
Currently, mobile subscribers who have not completed the required information verification are beginning to have their service blocked in one direction as part of the telecommunications data standardization process. Facing the risk of further two-way blocking, or even number revocation if they do not provide the necessary information within 30 days, many people in Nghe An are urgently going to service centers to complete the procedures and avoid communication disruptions.
Mobile network employees work through holidays to support the public.
Over the weekend of May 9th and 10th, the area around the Block 3 Cultural Center in Truong Vinh Ward, formerly part of Ben Thuy, was bustling with people. Many residents patiently sat on the benches, holding their citizen identification cards and mobile phones. Inside the hall, groups of VNPT VinaPhone Nghe An staff busily checked equipment, guided procedures, and assisted residents in completing the verification process.

Ms. Ta Thi Ngoc Bich, residing in Block 3, Truong Vinh Ward, said that early this morning, the block's public address system announced that a network provider employee would be coming to assist with information verification, so she took the opportunity to go and get it done.
"I'm getting old, so I'm not very familiar with using a phone. These past few days I've been receiving messages saying that if I haven't verified my account, my outgoing calls might be blocked, and I'm very worried. I use my phone to contact my children and grandchildren, receive bank notifications, and handle family matters, so if it gets blocked, it would be very inconvenient. Luckily, the staff members guided me so attentively; it only took a few minutes," Mrs. Bich shared.

Ms. Nguyen Nu Hai Yen, an employee of VNPT VinaPhone Nghe An, said that following the instructions of the agency, the unit has divided its staff into many groups, going directly to each block and hamlet to support the people.
"Even though it was a holiday, everyone arrived early. Many elderly people were unfamiliar with technology, so we had to guide them very carefully, from checking information and opening the application to scanning ID cards and facial authentication. Everyone worked with high determination, trying to provide the fastest support so that people could feel at ease," Ms. Yen said.
Not only VNPT VinaPhone, but other network operators such as Viettel and MobiFone have also simultaneously increased their workforce, extended support hours, and deployed mobile teams in many residential areas throughout Nghe An province.

Mr. Le Duc Thuan, Director of MobiFone Nghe An Business Center, said that in order to meet the increased demand for subscriber information verification during the crucial period, the unit has deployed a 24/7 support team at the customer care system, while maintaining transaction points operating continuously, including outside of business hours and on weekends.
According to Mr. Thuan, in addition to direct support at the counter, MobiFone Nghe An is also promoting indirect support through the call center, customer care fanpage, and online guidance on the application, helping people complete procedures right from home.

“For customers unfamiliar with technology, staff will provide step-by-step remote guidance or direct support at the transaction point. We prioritize quick processing, minimizing waiting times, and ensuring all subscribers receive timely support before the service is deactivated according to the schedule,” Mr. Thuan emphasized.
The process needs to be accelerated, and people should not be complacent.
According to the new regulations, starting in early May, mobile network operators began blocking outgoing calls for subscribers who had not updated their biometric data or whose information did not match the National Population Database.
This is a step taken to standardize subscriber information, clean up telecommunications data, reduce the number of unregistered SIM cards, and prevent high-tech fraud.

Regarding the progress of implementation in the area, a representative from VNPT Nghe An stated that immediately after receiving the implementation guidelines, the unit developed a comprehensive plan and mobilized maximum human resources from the business, technical, and customer service departments to ensure synchronized implementation.
In addition to increasing staff at fixed transaction points, VNPT Nghe An also coordinates with local authorities to organize mobile support points at community cultural centers in neighborhoods and residential areas to help people, especially the elderly, access services more conveniently.
In Nghe An province, the number of people visiting transaction points and mobile support stations has increased sharply in recent days. This indicates that anxiety about the risk of having their mobile phone subscriptions blocked is driving people to be more proactive.
However, according to network operators, many people are still complacent, assuming that the account blocking will not be implemented immediately or that it will only be done closer to the deadline. Telecommunications companies advise people to complete the process early to avoid congestion in the final days, which can overload the system and cause long waiting times.

Citizens can verify their identity directly at transaction points, mobile support points, or through official applications such as My VNPT, My Viettel, and My MobiFone.
In parallel, users need to be wary of scams. The network provider affirms that it does not ask customers to provide OTP codes, passwords, or access suspicious links to verify information.
According to the latest report from the Telecommunications Department at the end of April 2026, approximately 34 million mobile subscribers nationwide have yet to verify and confirm their personal information with the National Population Database via the VNeID application, while more than 60 million subscribers have successfully completed the data standardization process.
To thoroughly address the issue of unregistered SIM cards, authorities are urging citizens to promptly update their information via mobile network applications or at designated transaction points before June 15, 2026. After this deadline, all subscribers who have not verified their identity or whose information does not match the national population database will have their services temporarily suspended as stipulated in Circular 08/2026/TT-BTTTT.
