The 'female conductor' of major ceremonies in North Korea has been revealed.

Kim Yo-jong was repeatedly referred to by North Korean media as the "conductor" of the celebrations marking the 105th birthday of the late leader Kim Il-sung on April 15.

Last year, Kim Yo-jong was seen appearing alongside her brother Kim Jong Un at official national events, but this year she has been largely absent.

According to the South Korean newspaper Chosun, Kim Yo-jong is currently the Deputy Director of the Propaganda and Commendation Department of the Workers' Party of North Korea. She is one of her brother's most trusted advisors.

During the ceremony on April 15th, Kim Yo-jong was seen bustling about backstage as cameras focused on key North Korean officials. Dressed in black and holding a notebook, she stood next to leader Kim Jong Un as the parade began, seemingly explaining the sequence of events to her brother.

After her brother reviewed the troops and exchanged some words with high-ranking official Choe Ryong-hae, this woman walked behind them.

Earlier, Kim Yo-jong was also seen gesturing to security guards during the inauguration ceremony of Ryomyong Street – an avenue lined with skyscrapers in Pyongyang. She was presented with a bouquet of flowers.

"This suggests that Kim Yo-jong is a key official responsible for security and protocol for Kim Jong-un," a North Korea researcher commented.

According to the British newspaper Express, Kim Yo-jong was born on September 26, 1987, the second child of the late Chairman Kim Jong Il and Ko Yong-hui. As a child, she lived with her older brothers, Kim Jong-chul and Kim Jong Un, in central Pyongyang.

In 1996, Kim Yo-jong, using the name Kim Yong Sun, attended school in Berne, Switzerland, with her brothers. An employee at the school they attended said that the North Korean girl was protected and escorted everywhere by "a number of men."

In Switzerland, the Kim cousins ​​live in a house constantly guarded by bodyguards. Kim Yo-jong's mother visits frequently, but their father remains in Pyongyang.

In 2000, Kim Yo-jong returned to North Korea to complete her studies. Details about her during this period are scarce. It is reported that after her mother's death in 2004, she attended a Western European university.

In 2007, Kim Yo-jong was included in the list of core cadres of the Workers' Party of North Korea. After her father, Kim Jong Il, suffered a stroke in 2008, she became a key figure in the campaign to bring her brother, Kim Jong Un, to power.

Kim Yo-jong was a regular member of the inner circle of officials close to Chairman Kim Jong Il until his death in December 2011.
