Vietnam's new K17 field uniform revealed.

October 1, 2017 17:35

During a regional defense exercise in Hung Yen province, a camouflage uniform identified as the K17 officially appeared.

Currently, the standard field uniform of the soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army has the designation code K07 (type 07), as it was put into use in 2007. This design is applied uniformly to all branches of the armed forces, except for special forces which have their own uniform.

Furthermore, the K07 combat uniform for the Air Force or Navy essentially retains the same design, differing only in the color blocks on the fabric to suit the main operating environment.

In addition, the Marine Corps is using a small number of camouflage uniform samples supplied by foreign countries.

As the Vietnam People's Army continues its path towards becoming a regular and modern force, equipping soldiers with a new type of field uniform that provides better camouflage in various environments is essential.

Currently, many countries around the world have adopted the use of "digital" camouflage patterns, which are considered the optimal method at the moment, offering a very high degree of "disguise".

This field uniform design is believed to be a prototype of the K17.

Recently, during a regional defense exercise in Hung Yen province, officers and soldiers from the Provincial Military Command and the organizing committee wore a new combat uniform with a new design, believed to be the K17 prototype.

Preliminary assessments indicate that the K17 does not use the "digital camo" style but still retains the old-style camouflage print. The models for the Air Force and Navy are expected to be similar, differing only in replacing the green color with light blue and dark blue.

Additionally, several other noteworthy details can be observed: the insignia on the cap, and the stars and stripes on the rank epaulets, now use embroidered thread instead of metal as before. This is more effective when marching at night, as it prevents light from reflecting off the lights and revealing the position.
