Russian websites shared images showing launchers of the Iskander-E missile complex appearing during a rehearsal for the parade celebrating the 25th anniversary of Armenia's independence.

According to bmpd.livejournal.com, this rehearsal took place on September 16 in the capital Yerevan. The official parade will be held on September 21.

This site speculates that the Iskander missile systems were likely purchased through a credit line of up to $200 million that Russia provided to Armenia for the purchase of weapons and military equipment. The credit agreement was signed by the Armenian government on June 26, 2015.

If true, Armenia would become the first foreign country to which Russia has exported this modern tactical ballistic missile.

In addition to Iskander-E, the Armenian Army currently possesses a number of other ballistic missile complexes such as Scud-B and Tochka.

The information about Armenia owning the Iskander-E complexes is very surprising, because previously in an interview with Kommersant newspaper in June this year, Mr. Sergei Chemezov - General Director of the State Corporation Rostec (Russia) said that the Iskander missile complex is on the list of weapons banned from export.

Specifically, when asked about the level of interest of Saudi Arabia (a country that has repeatedly expressed special interest in Iskander-E) in this tactical missile complex, Mr. Chemezov said:

"Saudi Arabia has mentioned this issue many times, but Iskander is on the list of weapons banned from export and we currently have no intention of making an exception. This is an extremely dangerous weapon because it is capable of carrying nuclear warheads."

Iskander-M is a short-range tactical ballistic missile system designed and manufactured to replace the older generation Tochka-U missile systems.

Meanwhile, Iskander-E is said to be the export version of Iskander-M with a range reduced to only 280km. The special feature of the Iskander-M missile is its stealth capability, helping it overcome current missile defense systems. The maximum range of Iskander-M is 500km, with a circular error of 5-7m.
