For a long time, I threw myself into work like a moth to a flame, without thinking about myself, without paying attention to or taking care of myself. Even when I discovered abnormalities in my body, I hesitated to go to the doctor right away. By the time I went to check, I was already sick.breast cancer.
Drawing from my own experience, I affirm that women must know how to love and take care of themselves, do not be so absorbed in working and earning money that you forget to take care of your health. And when you discover a disease, be strong to face it, optimistically fight the disease.
I still remember the feeling that day. After hearing the news that I had cancer, my whole body felt weak, my ears were ringing, my legs were weak... Thousands of questions ran through my head: Why me? Why did someone with a healthy lifestyle and careful diet like me get breast cancer? What did I do wrong?... After calmly facing the truth, I decided that I had to fight and defeat this disease.
In the Breast Surgery Department, sometimes you still see sad faces, but when you move to Internal Medicine 4, you will only see smiles, outsiders who do not know will think that there are only healthy people. We take the opportunity to talk to each other all the time and look at everything with a humorous eye. We cannot decide our life and destiny, but we can choose our attitude to live.
In 12 years of working in the department, I witnessed a lot of despair among patients. For them, cancer is a death sentence right before their eyes, many people are devastated, many people refuse treatment, many people do not accept the truth, struggle, suffer, want to die... But after receiving "psychological treatment", they become real warriors, making me admire them so much. We also created a Zalo group called "Accompanying breast cancer patients in Nghe An" so that everyone can spread positive energy and maintain optimism for everyone.
Before Tet, we had a special patient - an 82-year-old woman. At her rare age, she said that she was determined to get treatment not because she wanted to live longer. But because of her two daughters. She hoped that if her children were to suffer the same condition as her, they would follow her example of optimism and fighting. This sharing touched me deeply, and I have told it to many other patients.
People often think that in a place full of serious illnesses and pain like this, everyone would be depressed and sad. But no, here we are very happy, encouraged and cared for by doctors and nurses, and we always share and support each other, sharing even a piece of cake, a drink, or a little fruit.
Every Thursday, the entire department also has activities with many games, exercises, and sharing, which is very fun. We find empathy and trust in each other, giving each other positive and optimistic energy to live each day to the fullest. I am grateful and have learned a lot from the attitudes of my sisters and mothers.
Just recently, I encountered a case right in my hospital room. The mother was heartbroken when she learned that she had cancer, and her children were afraid because they thought that chemotherapy would cause her pain, that she would have to be isolated, and that she would not be able to be near people, so the whole family refused treatment. Not knowing how to advise them, I used my own story and experience to reassure and convince them not to give up. After talking, the mother decided not to go back and stayed in the hospital, fighting the disease. I hope that those sisters who are unfortunate enough to have the disease can calmly accept it and overcome it with optimism.
For cancer patients, optimism and happiness are important factors that determine physical health and recovery. The good news is that at the Department of Breast Surgery -Cancer HospitalNghe An, after being consulted, mothers and sisters all clearly understood the importance of spirit and chose an optimistic and trusting attitude, working together and steadfastly fighting the disease. Through the stories of mothers and sisters, I also hope that women should care for themselves more, and move towards a healthy lifestyle. Regular health check-ups will help us detect diseases early and easily cure them.
