Ukraine's most elite brigade is trapped in the Ugledar 'cauldron'.
The 72nd Brigade, the most elite unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, is trapped in Ugledar.
According to RIA Novosti on September 30, British expert Alexander Merkouris stated on the Duran YouTube channel that the elite 72nd Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is trapped in Ugledar.
“Ugledar represents the defensive base of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in southern Donbass. Now it is on the verge of falling. And the 72nd Brigade, one of the best military units in the Ukrainian army, has fallen into a difficult situation,” expert Merkouris said.
According to experts, the Ukrainian army is suffering heavy losses. At the same time, they effectively have no way to retreat, as the Russian army controls all routes.
"This is truly a disaster. And this is just one disaster among many others," said expert Merkouis.
Earlier on September 25, Denis Pushilin, the head of the Russian-appointed Donetsk People's Republic, stated that a special operations zone was being established in the Ugledar "fortress." Russian troops had seized the Ukrainian Armed Forces garrison in the city using a pincer tactic. The Russian forces had achieved such success that they could confidently say the enemy would have no chance of reversing the situation.
The entire 72nd Ukrainian Brigade is trapped in a "cauldron," and Kyiv has run out of reinforcements to relieve it. Russia is continuously using UAVs to drop leaflets containing an "ultimatum," demanding that Ukrainian soldiers surrender immediately. In reality, they only have two options: fight to the last man or surrender, and both lead to disastrous consequences.
