He tricked and sold pregnant women, then went into hiding.
Lô Thị Mỹ Anh, along with her accomplices, tricked and sold pregnant women abroad for a profit of 3 million VND. Her accomplices were later arrested, but Anh fled and is now wanted.
On October 30th, the Nghe An Provincial People's Court held a first-instance trial to hear the case against defendant Lo Thi My Anh (born in 1984), residing in Yen Hoa commune, Tuong Duong district, for the crime of human trafficking.
The human trafficking case involving defendant My Anh occurred 10 years ago.
According to the case file, around the beginning of 2014, Oc Thi Phong (born in 1981, residing in Yen Na commune, Tuong Duong district) was invited by a woman named Xu (whose identity is unknown) to find women to sell to China. Phong then invited My Anh and two others, Kha Thi Thiem (born in 1984) and Vi Thi Ba (born in 1987), both residing in Yen Tinh commune, Tuong Duong district, to look for "victims".

About two months later, Ba learned that Ms. Lo Thi H. (born in 1994, residing in Yen Tinh commune, Tuong Duong district) wanted to go to China to work, so he persuaded her and then informed his accomplices.
The next day, Phong arranged for his accomplices to bring Ms. H. to him. Upon meeting, Phong asked, "If you go to China to get married, we'll give you 100 million dong." Fearing that she wouldn't be allowed to return if she refused, Ms. H. agreed. Afterwards, Phong forced Ms. H. to write a sworn statement indicating that she voluntarily went abroad to work and get married.
Following instructions from the Department, My Anh took Ms. H. by bus to Mong Cai (Quang Ninh) and handed her over to a man sent by Xu to pick her up. In a foreign country, Ms. H. discovered she was pregnant before being sold and asked to return home. Despite this, Xu still sold Ms. H. to a local man.
Later, Xu told Phong that because H. was pregnant, the sale could only fetch 70 million dong. Xu gave Phong 55 million dong to give to H.'s father, who would then give 40 million dong. In this case, Phong pocketed 6 million dong; while Ba, Thiem, and My Anh each received 3 million dong.
On August 15, 2019, H.'s father filed a complaint against the suspects with the police. Subsequently, Phong, Ba, and Thiem were arrested and tried for human trafficking, receiving sentences of 30 to 36 months in prison. Meanwhile, My Anh quickly fled and was placed on the police's wanted list. In June 2024, Lo Thi My Anh was arrested.
At the trial, the defendant admitted to the crime. The defendant confessed that, driven by greed, he and his accomplices trafficked the victim to a foreign country for sale.
The trial panel determined that the defendant committed the crime with aggravating circumstances, namely selling pregnant women. Therefore, the court sentenced Lo Thi My Anh to 3 years in prison for the crime of human trafficking.
Regarding the woman named Xu, local verification confirmed that an individual named Xu, whose real name is Lo Thi Thuy, left the area in 2010 and has not returned since. During the investigation, based solely on the police department's testimony, there is insufficient evidence to prosecute Xu.
