Scammers sell 'wild ducks' and embezzle 23 billion VND.
Nguyen Van Tua fraudulently sold nearly 20,000 square meters of land to Mr. Pham Minh Tuan and several other households, then embezzled over 23 billion VND.
On September 4th, the Investigation Police Department of Kien Giang province announced that, in coordination with the People's Procuracy of the same level, they had served the decision to initiate criminal proceedings, indict the suspect, and execute a 4-month temporary detention order against Nguyen Van Tua (born in 1980), residing in Vinh Quang ward, Rach Gia city, Kien Giang province (currently temporarily residing in An Thoi ward, Phu Quoc city) for the crime of...fraud and misappropriation of property.
According to the investigation results from May 2022 to March 18, 2023, Nguyen Van Tua sold nearly 20,000 square meters.2 (in Da Chong hamlet, Bai Thom commune, Phu Quoc city) managed by the People's Committee of Bai Thom commune, Phu Quoc city (by drawing up a notarized document) for Mr. Pham Minh Tuan (residing in Ho Chi Minh City) and several other households, then misappropriated over 23 billion VND.
Previously, when selling the land to Mr. Tuan, Tua committed that the land was not subject to disputes, seizure, or confiscation... However, after receiving the transfer, Mr. Pham Minh Tuan came to take possession of the land and build a house, but was obstructed and prevented from doing so by others.
Later, Mr. Tuan learned that the land he had just bought was under state management and not owned by Tua or any other individual. Therefore, Mr. Tuan filed a complaint against Tua for fraud with the police.
During a search of Nguyen Van Tua's residence in Ward 4, An Thoi Commune, Phu Quoc City, the police seized numerous documents to aid in the investigation.
