According to the indictment of the People's Procuratorate of Nghe An province: In May 2014, Lau Ba Di met Mua Ba Chu at Muong Xen market (Ky Son). Lau Ba Di discussed with Mua Ba Chu the plan to trick Ho Y Mo (Lau Ba Di's common-law wife) into being sold to China for money. Mua Ba Chu agreed.
Later, Lầu Bá Dì pawned his motorbike for 11 million dong. He gave Mùa Bá Chù 1 million dong, and the two went home. A week later, Lầu Bá Dì went to Mùa Bá Chù's house and decided to find a way to sell Hờ Y Mò to China. Lầu Bá Dì stayed at Mùa Bá Chù's house for one night. The next day, they went to Hờ Y Mò's house in Tiều Tiêu village, Nậm Cắn commune (Kỳ Sơn district). Upon arrival, they met Hờ Y Mò and Mr. Hờ Tồng Xỉ, the biological father of Y Mò and Hờ Y Cở.
Lầu Bá Dì told Mr. Hờ Tồng Xỉ: "Now, taking Hờ Y Mò to China to get married and find work there will earn you more money." Mr. Hờ Tồng Xỉ thought that Dì and Chù were genuinely trying to help, so he agreed and even asked them to bring Mò's younger sister, Y Cở, along. Everyone agreed. At that time, Hờ Y Cở wasn't home, so Mùa Bá Chù and Hờ Tồng Xỉ rode their motorbikes to Huồi Mũ village, Huồi Tụ commune (Kỳ Sơn district) to pick up Hờ Y Cở and bring her home. The next morning, Mùa Bá Chù and Lầu Bá Dì went to Mr. Hờ Tồng Xỉ's house, and then they all rode motorbikes to Mường Xén town to catch a bus to Diễn Châu district.
Afterward, they all took a bus to Lao Cai province. Upon arriving at the Lao Cai provincial bus station, Mua Ba Chu rented a room for five people to rest. Three days later, Mua Ba Chu met two Hmong people in Lao Cai province (their specific addresses are unknown), one of whom was named Ky Tho. Mua Ba Chu inquired with Ky Tho about if anyone needed women for marriage. Guided by Ky Tho, Mua Ba Chu, Ho Tong Xi, Ho Y Mo, and Ho Y Co crossed the border into China. There, Mua Ba Chu sold Ho Y Mo and Ho Y Co to Chinese buyers for 100 million dong.
Although Hờ Tồng Xỉ was with Chù, she was unaware of how he exchanged money with the Chinese for the sale of the two girls. Afterwards, Mùa Bá Chù and Hờ Tồng Xỉ returned to Lào Cai to meet Lầu Bá Dì. The three then took a taxi to Diễn Châu district (Nghệ An). After deducting travel expenses, the money from selling Hờ Y Mò and Hờ Y Cở amounted to 75 million dong. Mùa Bá Chù gave Hờ Tồng Xỉ 25 million dong, Lầu Bá Dì 25 million dong, and Mùa Bá Chù kept 25 million dong for himself. Then everyone returned home.
Living with a Chinese family, Hờ Y Mò took advantage of a lapse in security and escaped to the Chinese police for help, subsequently being repatriated to Vietnam. On July 25, 2017, Hờ Y Mò filed a complaint against Mùa Bá Chù and Lầu Bá Dì. Lầu Bá Dì is currently on the run, and the investigating authorities have issued an arrest warrant. Hờ Y Cở's whereabouts are currently unknown.
After reviewing the evidence and the circumstances of the crime, the court sentenced Mua Ba Chu to 5 years in prison for the crime of human trafficking.

Also on the morning of the same day, the People's Court of Nghe An province tried the human trafficking case against Kha Thi Hong (born in 1991), residing in Na Kho village, Nga My commune (Tuong Duong district).
According to the indictment from the Prosecutor's Office: In 2012, Kha Thi Hong (born in 1991), residing in Na Kho village, Nga My commune, went to China to marry and live. In September 2012, Kha Thi Hong returned to Vietnam and visited Mr. Lo Van Tho, also residing in Na Kho village, Nga My commune, with the intention of persuading Lo Thi Cang to go to China to be sold as a wife. Lo Thi Cang agreed. Kha Thi Hong sold Lo Thi Cang to a Chinese man for 55,000 yuan (approximately 165 million VND). After selling Lo Thi Cang, Kha Thi Hong gave Lo Thi Cang's family 50 million VND.
About a month after Lo Thi Cang escaped from her husband's house and was arrested by the Chinese police, she contacted Kha Thi Hong to bail her out and bring her back to her home (in China). After two months there, Hong and her husband sold Lo Thi Cang to another Chinese man for 60,000 yuan (equivalent to 180 million VND). Kha Thi Hong paid the matchmaker 5,000 yuan and returned the remaining 55,000 yuan to the previous buyer.
On January 16, 2017, Lo Thi Cang escaped back to Vietnam and filed a complaint against Kha Thi Hong.
In court, Hong confessed to all of her crimes, and the court decided to sentence Kha Thi Hong to 5 years in prison for the crime of "human trafficking".
