Sold a mistress to China

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of July 28, at the Hall of the Cultural and Information Center of Tuong Duong district, the People's Court of Nghe An province opened a mobile court to try two cases of human trafficking.

The defendants on trial are: Mua Ba Chu (born in 1982), residing in Huoi Thang village, Huoi Tu commune (Ky Son) and Kha Thi Hong (born in 1991), residing in Na Kho village, Nga My commune (Tuong Duong).

According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Nghe An province: In May 2014, Lau Ba Di met Mua Ba Chu at Muong Xen market (Ky Son). Lau Ba Di discussed with Mua Ba Chu to trick Ho Y Mo (Lau Ba Di's unregistered wife) into selling her to China to get money to spend. Mua Ba Chu agreed.

After that, Lau Ba Di pawned her motorbike for 11 million VND. She gave Mua Ba Chu 1 million VND and the two went home. A week later, Lau Ba Di went to Mua Ba Chu's house and decided to find a way to sell Ho Y Mo to China. Lau Ba Di slept at Mua Ba Chu's house for 1 night. The next day, the two went to Ho Y Mo's house in Tieu Tieu village, Nam Can commune (Ky Son). When they arrived, they met Ho Y Mo and Mr. Ho Tong Xi, the biological father of Y Mo and Ho Y Co.

Lau Ba Di told Mr. Ho Tong Xi: "Now, take Ho Y Mo to China to get married and find a job in China to earn more money." Mr. Ho Tong Xi thought that Di and Chu were sincere in their intention to help, so they agreed and also asked the two to bring Mo's younger sister, Y Co, along. Everyone agreed. At that time, Ho Y Co was not at home, so Mua Ba Chu and Ho Tong Xi rode a motorbike to Huoi Mu village, Huoi Tu commune (Ky Son) to pick up Ho Y Co and bring him home. The next morning, Mua Ba Chu and Lau Ba Di went to Mr. Ho Tong Xi's house, then they all rode motorbikes to Muong Xen town to catch a bus to Dien Chau district.

Then the group took a bus to Lao Cai province. When arriving at Lao Cai province bus station, Mua Ba Chu rented a room for 5 people to rest. 3 days later, Mua Ba Chu met 2 Mong people in Lao Cai province (exact address unknown), one of whom was named Ky Tho. Mua Ba Chu asked Ky Tho if anyone needed women to be wives. With Ky Tho's guidance, Mua Ba Chu, Ho Tong Xi, Ho Y Mo, and Ho Y Co crossed the border to China. Here, Mua Ba Chu sold Ho Y Mo and Ho Y Co to the Chinese for 100 million VND.

Although he went with Chu, Ho Tong Xi did not know how he exchanged and received money with the Chinese through the sale of the two girls. After that, Mua Ba Chu and Ho Tong Xi returned to Lao Cai to meet Lau Ba Di. The three took a taxi to Dien Chau district (Nghe An). After deducting the travel expenses, the money from selling Ho Y Mo and Ho Y Co was left with 75 million VND. Mua Ba Chu gave Ho Tong Xi 25 million VND, gave Lau Ba Di 25 million VND, Mua Ba Chu received 25 million VND, then everyone returned home.

Living in a Chinese family, Ho Y Mo took advantage of a loophole and escaped to the Chinese police for help and was returned to Vietnam. On July 25, 2017, Ho Y Mo filed a complaint against Mua Ba Chu and Lau Ba Di. Lau Ba Di is currently on the run from the locality, and the investigation agency has issued a wanted notice. Ho Y Co's current whereabouts are unknown.

After reviewing the evidence and the details of the crime, the Trial Panel sentenced Mua Ba Chu to 5 years in prison for human trafficking.

Also in the morning of the same day, the People's Court of Nghe An province tried the case of Human Trafficking against Kha Thi Hong (born in 1991), residing in Na Kho village, Nga My commune (Tuong Duong).

According to the indictment of the Procuracy: In 2012, Kha Thi Hong (1991), residing in Na Kho village, Nga My commune, went to China to get married and make a living. In September 2012, Kha Thi Hong returned to Vietnam and visited Mr. Lo Van Tho's house, also residing in Na Kho village, Nga My commune, with the purpose of inviting Lo Thi Cang to sell her to a Chinese man to marry. Lo Thi Cang agreed. Kha Thi Hong sold Lo Thi Cang to a Chinese man for 55,000 yuan (equivalent to about 165 million VND). After selling Lo Thi Cang, Kha Thi Hong gave Lo Thi Cang's family 50 million VND.

About a month later, Lo Thi Cang escaped from her husband's house and was arrested by the Chinese police. Lo Thi Cang contacted Kha Thi Hong to ask her to bail her back home (in China). After two months here, Hong and her husband continued to sell Lo Thi Cang to another Chinese man for 60,000 yuan (equivalent to 180 million VND). Kha Thi Hong paid the matchmaker 5,000 yuan, and returned the remaining 55,000 yuan to the previous buyer.

On January 16, 2017, Lo Thi Cang fled back to Vietnam and filed a complaint against Kha Thi Hong's actions.

In court, Hong confessed to all her crimes, and the court decided to sentence Kha Thi Hong to 5 years in prison for the crime of "Human trafficking".
