Authorities said they had successfully dismantled a group that specialized in organizing scams to sell gaming accounts on the internet, stealing about 1 billion VND from more than 300 victims.

In early May 2023, through reconnaissance work on the internet and local areas, the Buon Ma Thuot City Police Department discovered a group of subjects in Ea Tu commune, Buon Ma Thuot city with many signs of fraudulent activities.appropriation of property.

Upon discovering the incident, Buon Ma Thuot City Police established a special project and coordinated with the Cyber ​​Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Provincial Police to investigate and verify.

As a result, the police discovered the subjects including: Tran Dinh Lap (25 years old); Tran Duc Thinh (27 years old); Le Ba Kien (28 years old); Tran Dinh Cong (23 years old) and Nguyen Tien Quang (22 years old), all residing in Buon Ma Thuot city, rented a room in Ea Tu commune, Buon Ma Thuot city to conduct fraud activities. This group was led by Lap.

To carry out the act, the group bought a Facebook group with more than 33,000 members, then copied the game account image of another person, "Sudden Attack", and sold it to members of this game group.

When the buyer agreed and transferred the payment, the group locked it and cut off contact to appropriate the money. Using this trick, Lap's group defrauded more than 300 people, appropriating about 1 billion VND.

Currently, the case is being further investigated by the authorities, handling the subjects according to regulations.
