The director promised to buy and sell and carry out procedures to register car registration certificates to defraud and appropriate many cars and car purchase deposits of more than 3.5 billion VND from customers.
On the afternoon of December 27, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Court sentenced Vo Minh Trong (born in 1983, residing in Can Tho, Director of Phu Trong Automobile Trading and Service Company Limited) to 13 years in prison for "Fraudulent appropriation of property". According to the indictment, from July 27, 2017 to August 30, 2017, District 12 Police received criminal complaints from many people and companies accusing Vo Minh Trong, Director of Phu Trong Automobile Trading and Service Company Limited (abbreviated as Phu Trong Company) of fraudulently appropriating many cars and deposits for car purchases, by using the legal entity of Phu Trong Company to sign sales contracts, service agreements to promise to buy and sell and carry out procedures to register car registration certificates.

Accordingly, in 2016, the Department of Planning and Investment of Ho Chi Minh City granted a Certificate of Business Registration to Phu Trong Company, with Vo Minh Trong as Director and legal representative, headquartered in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City, with business lines of buying and selling all kinds of trucks.
From July 2016 to July 2017, the main business activities of Trong and the Company were to receive consignments of cars from owners to display at the Company's headquarters office for sale or to purchase cars from manufacturers for display. When customers came to contact and deposit money to buy a car, Trong would contact the car manufacturer to order the car for the customer. During this time, the Company was ineffective, and he himself had debts outside the society that were due to be paid, so Trong committed acts of appropriating customers' money in the following forms: Representing the legal entity of Phu Trong Company to sign contracts to sell cars with 8 individuals, and after receiving the customers' deposits to buy cars, he appropriated them.
In fact, Trong did not order the car from any place, so when the time came and there was no car to deliver to the customer, Trong cited many reasons to avoid refunding the money or delivering the car to the customer. If there was, Trong would have pawned the car or sold it to someone else...
