On December 26th, the Criminal Police Department of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Police announced that they had issued a decision to temporarily detain Vo Nguyen Hoang Nguyen (born in 1990, residing at 22/13 Phan Ke Binh Street, Thuy Xuan Ward, Hue City) on charges of "fraudulent appropriation of property".
According to initial information, Nguyen falsely claimed to many people that he had connections with competent state agencies and therefore could handle procedures for obtaining land use right certificates, changing land use purposes, altering information on land use right certificates, subdividing land, and issuing new land use right certificates...
At the same time, Nguyen also boasted about investing in and buying and selling land plots with high profits, causing the victims to trust him and give him money and documents related to the land plots to help them.
However, after the victims gave him the money, Nguyen misappropriated it to pay off debts, for personal expenses, and used all the victims' land use right certificates as collateral for debts. During the initial investigation, the Criminal Police Department of the Provincial Police determined that Vo Nguyen Hoang Nguyen had misappropriated assets from 12 victims totaling 6.75 billion VND.
Currently, the Criminal Investigation Department of the Provincial Police is continuing to investigate and handle the case according to the law.
