The provincial police have arrested Dam Nam Dien (born in 1983), a particularly dangerous fugitive who had been on the run for many years.
Dam Nam Dien (residing in Hamlet 11, Be Trieu, Nuoc Hai town, Hoa An district) was charged by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Cao Bang Provincial Police with fraud and appropriation of property totaling over 800 million VND. Specifically, Dien exploited the pretext of securing jobs for numerous individuals to embezzle money between 2016 and 2018 in Cao Bang province. On June 7, 2021, a warrant was issued for Dien's arrest as a particularly dangerous fugitive.
After being wanted by the police, Dien used many aliases and went into hiding in China, Cambodia, and the provinces of Quang Nam, Ha Giang, Hai Phong, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Phuc, etc., to avoid detection by law enforcement.
After years of persistent verification, information gathering, and the application of professional methods, the police force determined that Dam Nam Dien was hiding in Thai Nguyen City and frequently moving to neighboring provinces.
On January 2, 2025, the Criminal Investigation Department, in coordination with the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Provincial Police and other professional units, successfully apprehended Dam Nam Dien while he was hiding in Group 1, Tan Thinh Ward, Thai Nguyen City.
