Ukrainian armed forces launch a strong attack on Russia's Belgorod
Ukrainian armed forces attacked two more settlements in Russia's Belgorod province.
According to TASS news agency on August 17, Governor of Belgorod province Vyacheslav Gladkov said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) attacked two more settlements in the Belgorod region.
“Two settlements in our region were shelled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to preliminary information, no civilians were injured,” Gladkov wrote on his Telegram channel.
The Governor of Belgorod clarified that in the village of Dronovka, Grayvoronsky metropolitan district, a house caught fire as a result of a direct hit. The fire that broke out was promptly extinguished by the homeowner using a fire extinguisher.
In addition, in the village of Grafovka, Krasnoyaruzhsky district, due to shelling, electricity and gas lines were damaged. There is no electricity on the streets. Emergency services will begin restoration work after agreement with the Russian Defense Ministry.
Mr. Gladkov also noted that currently information about the consequences of the shelling is being clarified and operational agencies are operating on the ground.
According to the announcement of Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Kurendo on August 15, the situation in Russia's border province of Belgorod has been determined to be a federal emergency.
Russian forces in Belgorod were already on alert after neighboring Kursk was attacked by Ukraine. This vigilance helped Russian forces in Belgorod put up a fiercer resistance.
