Ukrainian armed forces flee Bakhmut.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have fled Bakhmut, leaving behind wounded and dead soldiers. Some soldiers even laid down their weapons and surrendered to the Russian army.
The Russian Ministry of Defense told Ria Novosti on December 4 that Ukrainian armed units in the village of Khromovo, near Artemovsk (known as Bakhmut in Ukraine), had fled, leaving behind wounded and dead. Some Ukrainian soldiers laid down their weapons and surrendered to air assault groups of the Russian Southern Forces.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, while reconnoitering Ukrainian army positions from the air, paratroopers managed to "break through" the defenses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Bakhmut and on the access roads to the village of Khromovo. The Russian paratroopers also discovered strongholds and key artillery positions of the Ukrainian security forces.
"As a result, Russian artillery suppressed the firing positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' artillery and destroyed open-air checkpoints. Attack aircraft struck fortified positions and fortifications where enemy soldiers were hiding," the Russian Ministry of Defense stated.
Precision strikes on Russian positions and suppression of Russian firepower demoralized Ukrainian soldiers. Subsequently, air assault teams on BMP-2 and BMD-2 helicopters began attacking Bakhmut from multiple directions.
The Russian Ministry of Defense added that drone operators provided aerial escort for the attacking units and warned of new weapons of mass destruction by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as the exploitation of attack routes. The detected weapons of mass destruction were immediately neutralized by drone teams and fire from armored units.
During the attack, the Ukrainian army fled, leaving behind the wounded and dead; some soldiers laid down their weapons and surrendered.
Khromovo is a village west of the city of Bakhmut. During the battles for control of the city, the last supply route for the Ukrainian Armed Forces passed through Khromovo, where fierce fighting took place.
