The project of growing bananas for export was granted an investment certificate by the People's Committee of Nghe An province, with a capital of 3 million USD and a scale of 10,000 tons/year. The total banana growing area is 200 hectares, mainly leased agricultural land allocated to households and individuals according to Decree 64/ND-CP, with a lease term of 20 years. To facilitate investors, Yen Thanh district and Vien Thanh commune authorities have stepped up propaganda and mobilization so that nearly 750 households in 7 hamlets in the area can hand over land and premises to investors to implement the project conveniently and quickly.

Ms. Dang Thi Tu - Hamlet 9, Vien Thanh Commune said: When the banana factory came, people were very excited because they had more income from renting land, then they applied to work as workers, and there was also work to increase their income. In the first few years, the factory was doing well, with full salaries and bonuses. However, in the past few years, the factory has not been doing well, there is no salary, so I have been out of work for five months now. Including the land rent, my family has a few meters for rent, but from 2015 until now, the company has not been able to pay.

Directly at the banana export farm in Dong Son, Vien Thanh commune, a large area of ​​land has been planted with bananas, but looking at the scenery, for a long time no one has taken care of them so the bananas are stunted, grass grows wildly, and many leaves are dry and withered. The factory is deserted, people herd buffaloes and cows in the factory.

The nursery garden only had a few banana seedlings left, but they were burned and withered.

Present at the company were only an accountant, a foreign expert and a security guard who were taking advantage of the time to visit the fields. Ms. Dang Thi Thanh - accountant of Globe Farm Korea Co., Ltd. said: The current situation of the company is due to many reasons, but the main one is that the area is not guaranteed for the project of 200 hectares, so the investment partner of the company did not invest all the capital. In addition, the changing weather and climate have made the quality of bananas not guaranteed for export, pushing the company into difficulties, so it had to reduce the area and reduce the number of workers.

Since its inception, only in 2013 was it able to export more than 1.4 tons to Korea, earning more than 1 billion VND in revenue. The rest could not be exported but was only sold as scrap or retail to the market. Currently, the company has reduced its area to 44 hectares, 8 hectares of which have been returned to the people.

The export banana growing project of Globe Farm Korea Co., Ltd. is facing the risk of bankruptcy. Mr. Nguyen Huu Nhan - Chairman of Vien Thanh Commune People's Committee said: Up to now, Globe Farm Korea Company is in debt to the people for land rent in 2015 and 2016. The Commune People's Committee has sent many official dispatches requesting the Company and the district to intervene.
