"Salary": Regret that Golden Kite did not honor "The Judge"

- I was a bit surprised. I haven't seen the movie that Truong Minh Quoc Thai plays in so I don't know if he deserves the Best Actor award or not, but I'm still sure that People's Artist Hoang Dung will win this award.

The feedback for Dung’s role as boss Phan Quan last year was very good. It was a truly “huge” character on screen. I filmed with Dung all year long, watched him act, and only then did I fully understand the subtlety in Dung’s acting.

People's Artist Hoang Dung's acting has made the character become an image deeply ingrained in the hearts of viewers.

- If we talk about the structure, it is beyond my understanding, and I cannot comment. But I am really sorry that Hoang Dung did not win the Best Actor award.

Also, I found the movieThe Judgealso deserves to be awarded a film award. If the film has a foreign script, it may not be awarded for script or editing, but the film still has a chance to win a new award.

- "The Judge" also won 2 Golden Kites, while "Living with Mother-in-law" caused a storm last year but "went home empty-handed"?

- On April 5, the Vietnam Cinema Association held a press conference to announce the award ceremony. I also attended that day, but I did not know in advance that I had won the award. I was only told by Ms. Hong Ngát - Vice President of the Vietnam Cinema Association that she would be on stage to present the award with her.

I was supposed to have just arrived from Saigon tonight, but I changed my ticket early to make it to the award ceremony. When I got off the plane, I heard the news that I had won the award, but not from the association but from a journalist.

- You participated in the spin-off of "The Judge", can you reveal about the role of the character Luong Bong?

- Luong Bong appears quite a lot, there are many good details compared to the previous episodes. The new thing is that Luong Bong's character will talk more than in previous episodes. Before, Luong Bong rarely spoke, but the side story is different. I want to change and will suggest cutting down on the words.

- In your opinion, is there any guarantee that the 4 spin-off episodes of "The Judge" will continue to create a storm like the film did in 2017?

- I don't know exactly what the side story will be like but it's 4 short episodes not a long episode.

I don't know what the effect will be yet, but I think the script is very tightly written, on par with the episodes that have been made and broadcast. The content is still thrilling, the fighting in the underworld, Phan Thi's business practices and the intelligence of boss Phan Quan.

I think the screenwriters did a solid job, they must understand the film to be able to do that. I can only reveal that Phan Quan and Luong Bong will be a little younger in this side story.

- After the successful role of Luong Bong on screen, do you have difficulty choosing new roles?

- If the script or character is too bad, I still have to refuse. I've always been like that, if I don't like it, I still refuse. If I see something I can do, I do it, if not, I don't.
